Hi everyone! I am new to this site, and I have some general questions. I will be traveling to Disney next year with my husband, 4 year old, 7 year old, and mother. Would you have a recommendation for a Disney resort? I would like a moderate or deluxe resort, with connecting rooms, that has alot for the kids to do, yet will not be too juvenile for the adults. Proximity to the park is preferrable. I would like age appropriate pools and playgrounds, yet restaurants that we all can eat in and enjoy. I understand that many of the resorts are quite large - is this a plus or a minus?

Thanks for your advice!

Lora

Hi, I can't really tell so I'll ask you. Are you looking for onsite or offsite. And exactly what are your dates. Value season- correct me if i"m wrong starts 4th July. So you may get better information if that's clear. BTW/ Welcome to the DIS boards. I'm new too.

Well, we would stay in the Park, and it would be in the summer.
Thanks for your reply!

Hi Lora-

Welcome to the boards! It sounds like you've got a lot of decisions to make. Rest assured, you'll be very happy wherever you end up! Have you been looking at the pictures of the various resorts on the web? What sort of theming appeals to you? The deluxe resorts are the closest to the parks (several are on the monorail), but the moderates are only a busride away. Your budget will be the big factor. Two rooms at a deluxe gets pricey. Two connecting rooms at a moderate are a nice mid-level option. As far as size of the resorts are concerned, it just depends on your family. My DH and I stayed at Coronado Springs (a huge resort in some opinions) but we found it to be beautiful. I'd suggest that you start to narrow down a little on your resort choices. Dismiss whatever doesn't appeal to you and work with what's left. There are several great Disney travel books out there. They offer honest opinions and great suggestions.

Good luck deciding, and keep us posted!!!

Erin :)

Consider the Wilderness Lodge. Its an incredible resort with everything you need. Kiddie pool, boat and bike rentals, nice boat ride to magic kingdom. Theres also a boat ride to fort wilderness which has an awesome buffet as well as a petting zoo, etc.

I vote for Coronado Springs. We had 3 generations (me, my sister, my mom and my DS 4) on our last trip there in March and everyone enjoyed it. There is plenty for the kids to do, 2 game rooms, a great playground and pool area, bikes to rent, ducks to feed. My DS made a few friends to play with during our stay. We all found something we liked at the food court and the breakfast buffet at the Maya Grill was very good. The buses were great, the longest we waited was about 5 minutes. In the evenings if we didn't go to the parks, we took turns staying with my sleeping DS and the other 2 adults went to the lounge for Margaritas.
