Helo all,
Families first trip to Disney, staying at POFQ for the week. Any suggestions for this hotel, room requests, etc, would be helpful. In fact anything from experienced travelers would help the newbies. Thanks
I am so excited for you! You will love WDW and you will find this board to be a wealth of information.
POFQ is a very nice resort. Compact; everything is within easy walking distance. It has been a while since we have stayed there, so I cannot offer any advice with regards to rooms. POFQ has a food court, but no sit-down restaurant. There is a great pool area with a hot tub. The street names are very cute. We particularly like the general store.
POFQ shares a bus route with POR, which is right next door. POFQ only has one stop at the hospitality house - and the buses stop there first, which is a real plus, IMHO. POFQ and POR also share a watercraft that stops at both resorts before heading to DTD. It is a nice change from the buses. POR has a food court and a sit-down restaurant; it is a much larger resort. We really enjoyed the walk between POFQ and POR. It is very beautiful and relaxing. You can use all the amenities at POR, such as the boat rentals and the fishing hole. The boat to DTD is a lovely ride. It is really a quiet, relaxing resort, Have a great trip.
The food court at POFQ is quite good and, because this resort is small, quite convenient. Definitely invest in the refillable mugs. This is one resort where it's no problem to run back and drop your mug in your room before leaving for the parks each day. Grab some sandwiches and enjoy them by the pool. My kids all loved the strawberry pancakes (pancakes with a warm strawberry sauce to pour over the top).
Take time to kick back and enjoy the music in the lounge during the evening hours. My kids enjoyed having a freshly made ice cream cookie sandwich or some warm, sweet beignets while listening to the musician.
