I will be arriving at WDW at the end of August. I have been there many times, but this is DBf's first trip! He isn't nearly as excited as I am because he has no idea what to expect. I really wanted to do something special for him to suprise him but I don't know what. It is too late for us to book the Illuminations cruise, and I also don't have that much to spend. We have a 9:30 ADR for Cali Grill and will be able to see the fireworks, but I don't know how else to suprise him with something he will really enjoy. Does anyone have any ideas? :confused3 thanks!

also, I read in a trip report that someone had "mickey" call their phone before they left, I wasn't sure if this was something they set up, or if you can scheduale this thru the Disney resort?

I really appreciate any help and ideas!! :)

I'm not sure exactly how you go about getting the phone call, but i've also read about that lately.

As for other things to make it special, I think just being there is special it was for me on my first trip 2 years ago (it was my honeymoon). I guess I'd reccomend Fireworks, last year we watched Illuminations from our balcony at Yacht Club, it will always be my favorite memory. I think going to Cali grill is a great idea.

Not sure how old you guys are, but my wife and I are in our mid/late 20s and Disney is our favorite place to go, and we don't even have kids yet! I am basically a big kid. We're going in two weeks with some friends and I can't wait. I think just relizing how cool Disney really is for young adults will be enough of a surpise. If you're into partying, you can do that (I have a beer/ride/beer system that works really well at Epcot + Pleasure Island is pretty fun), the rides are the best anywhere, and the food is great. For a guy, I think just the fact that the place is so huge and complex is good enough reason to experience it for a guy. I mean, there's a freaking monorail for goodness sake!

:teeth:

Well, there's "free stuff":

Or downtown disney stuff (DisneyQuest?):

Or you could check the wild world of sports schedule:

Then there's bike rentals, mini golf, etc:

Or, the boardwalk (ESPN club?):

Not sure about the phone call, but you could ask a DISer to send a postcard (never to old for that on the first strip). HTH. :)

I would include some romantic time for the two of you. A stroll along Poly beach before the fireworks at MK. Find a hammock, listen to the surf hit the beach and watch the fireworks. A nice stroll along the Boardwalk. Take time to smell the roses each day instead of hurrying to dash here and there. Go over to FW Campground and soak in the atmosphere there. The Hoop-de-doo revue is a lot of fun that he might enjoy. It depends on what your BF likes and is in to. Pleasure Island is a lot of fun!

It is a little pricey - $80 each ($68 if you have AAA). But it was by far our favorite adventure at Disney.
It's one hour in a classroom and one hour touring world showcase before it opens. Do it on the day you planned to do Epcot and then plan a special dinner at Epcot that night as well, pick someplace he'd love or show him the restaurants and let him pick.

You will love the California Grill-it will be a great evening. I agree with the Segway tour-my husband and I saw them in Epcot and he was really interested!
