First trip to Disneyland in Feb. Do we need FP for Fantasmic or the dining package?

We have been to DW many many times and this is our first trip to DL. We will be at the parks three days, Feb 17-19. Should we use one of our FPs for Fantasmic? Or should we book the Fantasmic Dining Package? Or do we even have to worry about getting a good seat? We always used dining or FP at HS because we did not want to have to wait in line for 1+ hours to see the show. If the dining package is recommended which restaurant would you choose? Blue Bayou or River Belle?

At DLR FP for Fantasmic and WOC are disconnected from the other FP in the park, so there's no reason not to get one. However in February, Fantasmic usually only runs on weekends, so check the schedule to see if will even be showing on your dates.

I believe Fantasmic is on every night while WOC is down. Your dates aren't listed yet but I'm going Feb 4-11 and it's showing each night we are there. Just wanted to clear that up.

It will definitely be easier to be assured a good view if you book a dining package. Unlike HS where you get a dining FP and then go line up with everyone else who had a dining package to get into the same VIP viewing section as all of those with a package, you get a set section depending on where you dine. Blue Bayou has the best section, front and center. You can get there 5 or 10 minutes before the show and still get a great view in that section. If you'd want to eat at BB anyways, doing the Fantasmic dining package there simply makes sense.

I'm very very tempted - we do like front and centre views and the BB Fantasmic menu looks yummy.
