First-Timer's Dining Review ~ Including Lots of Food Porn Pics!!

Sorry you didn't like the burgers. Fast food burgers are pretty much the same everywhere in WDW. We always get the taco salad at Pecos Bill's. That's one of our favorite CS meals. Looking forward to Ohana.:thumbsup2

My mom & MIL both got the taco salad & said it was really good.

I'm from Bham too and heading to WDW in 26 days with a 4 and a 2! Can't wait to see your reviews - I am sure they will help us a ton!

Where in the Birmingham area are you? I am actually in Shelby County about 30 miles south of Bham.

After our first day at Magic Kingdom, I wanted to eat at 'Ohana. We took the monorail from MK to the Polynesian.

We arrived about 25 minutes early for our 6:30 ADR. I checked in & they said it would be about our actual reservation time when our table would be ready. I said that would be fine. We looked in the gift shop & then sat down. We waited & waited. Everyone's buzzer seemed to go off around us. I was starting to wonder if this meal was going to be worth the wait. After waiting 55 minutes our buzzer finally went off!

Our "cousin" escorted us to our table but first she stopped to get us some DELICIOUS pineapple coconut bread

After we were seated, the food started coming in.
First was the salad:

To be honest, I didn't like this salad. It was too sweet for me. I like my salad with ranch. Everyone else seemed to like it though. This was the only not so great part of the meal.

Next came the pork dumplings & sticky wings:

MY OH MY, these were SO GOOD!!

Then came the broccoli & noodles:

These tasted like they look but I was so obsessed with the pork dumplings & sticky wings, I barely ate any of this

Then came all the meat; steak, pork, chicken & shrimp:

These were all very good!

Finally after a long wait, what I had been dreaming about: the bananas foster bread pudding:

WOW is all I can say! It definitely lived up to the hype!!

They also brought out a cupcake for my DS's 2nd bday celebration:

I asked DH what his favorite was, he said he loved the noodles.

The only thing I didn't like was the salad. I loved the bread, pork dumplings, sticky wings, steak, shrimp & bread pudding!!

Overall, 'Ohana was definitely worth the wait!! I would certainly eat here again & I would wait an hour for it too ;)!

Hey Heather! We are in Homewood. This will be our ds2's first trip - please tell me it was manageable! We are staying on the monorail to, hopefully, make it a bit easier to return for naptime and rest. We also have quite a few TS meals - my kids are used to eating out and I think it will give him a break from the stroller. How did your kids do? How long were you there? Thanks!!

The reviews are great so far :goodvibes The food looks so good and I'm glad you seemed to enjoy planet hollywood, we couldn't decide but got an ADR anyway... now i'm looking forward to it :thumbsup2

I am DEFINITELY in! :) We want to book Ohana for our August trip and now I see it is a definite must-do!! I've been to Planet Hollywood many times and I like it, the atmosphere more than the food, though. But my family is more adventurous when it comes to food so we are looking at more ADRs at places like Ohana, La Hacienda, Via Napoli, and so on. We love to eat around World Showcase the most. :lovestruc Thanks for the reviews! Looking forward to more!popcorn::

Lovely review of Ohana. I agree the salad is my least fav of the meal, it never has any dressing on it when I get it.

On our 2nd full day, we visited Epcot. We had lunch ADRs at Le Cellier for 12:40. We were about 25 minutes late because it took forever to ride Mission Space & get across the park to Canada. I was so worried they wouldn't take us because we were so late but they did, without any trouble.

We were seated & the waitress brought out bread:

And the special Epcot shaped butter :):

I know everyone raves about the pretzel bread but I loved the multigrain bread the best! So did my mom.

I decided to get a cup of Canadian Cheddar Cheese Soup:

It was not on the DDP but I just had to try it. So worth it too!!

For his meal DH got the New York Strip w/Yukon Potatoes:

I got the Filet Mignon w/Cream Cheese Mashed Potatoes (instead of Risotto):
DSC_0352.jpg

Hands down the BEST mashed potatoes I have ever had in my life!

I did get a pic of my MILs. She chose the Shaved Prime Rib Sandwich:

She said wished she would have gotten a steak afterwards.

DS had the kid's Pizza:
DSC_0349.jpg

And we got a side of Baked Macaroni & Cheese for DS2:
DSC_0351.jpg

It was very good!

For dessert DH had the Seasonal Sorbet (which was orange & whiskey):
DSC_0357.jpg

He did not like this.

I had the Chocolate on Chocolate Whiskey Cake:
DSC_0356.jpg

It was heavenly :cloud9:!

Both my mom & MIL got the Maple Creme Brulee:
DSC_0355.jpg

I tried this & it was good but I am a chocolate lover & would choose the chocolate cake over it any day of the week!

DS had Ice Cream with Toppings:

We all LOVED everything about Le Cellier (except DHs dessert)! We would defintely go again & it would probably be at the top of my must-do restaurants!

Ooh I am so excited about trying LC for the first time

Looks like you had a wonderful lunch

Oh, I love LC!!! That filet with the mashed potatoes, the soup with the pretzel bread, that chocolate cake....all my favorites!! Only thing missing is the chocolate-raspberry shake which it sounds like is no longer there. We have dinner ADR's on April 1, hoping my faves are still on the new menu!

I gave up on Le Cellier on my last 2 trips because it was too much of a hassle to try to get and I wasn't buying all of the hype after trying it out for lunch in 2007. But those pics are making me rethink my decision...
