First timer, ticket question, early entry

Hello,

We are WDW vets but this will be our first time at DL....is your early entry eligibility tied to your resort room or to your tickets bought as part of a package? Staying at the Disneyland Hotel, but can save some money doing a room only reservation and buying tickets from Undercover Tourist...Will we still be eligible for early entry if we don't buy our tickets directly through Disney?
