First Timer Questions! WDW vet knows nothing about IOA!

Here are some first timer questions!

We have a huge Spidey fan in our party. Do you recommend a character bfast for this? What other characters would there be with this?

How early do they recommend showing up for entrance to IOA? We are staying offsite.

What food is allowed to be brought in park? Is security tight for food and coolers?

What places do you recommend eating?

We are going to IOA for one day and we do not plan on buying Express passes. What are we in for? Can anyone suggest a good touring plan? Want to do Harry Potter BUT Marvel is first priority. Not sure where to start!

1. The Spiderman breakfast features Spiderman, Thing 1 & 2 and Cat in the Hat. The food is OK at best but the interaction with the characters is outstanding. You aren't required to make reservations but it's strongly recommended.

2. If you're main concern isn't HP, I would get there at 9am when the park opens. Most people will be trying to do WWoHP but you're more concerned about Marvel Super Hero Island, you will find no lines to deal with...especially first thing in the morning. You can do the rest of IOA and then head over to WWoHP later in the day.

3. You can bring soft sided coolers in but not a hard side cooler. Most snacks, bottled water and sandwiches are fine. They will search your bags at the check point in the rotunda of the garage structure.

4. Places I recommend at IOA are: Thunder Falls Terrace, Mythos, Comic Strip Cafe and The Burger Digs.

5. As far as not having Express passes, you shouldn't have too big of a problem except it will be busy and it will be hot! Start at Marvel and work your way around the park. Marvel, Cartoon Lagoon, Jurassic Park, WWoHP, The Lost Continent and Seuss Landing. You'll come back out at Port of Entry where you started.
