First timer here...how much planning necessary?

We are going near end of June. There will be 7 of us, myself and six grandchildren(ages 9 to 23). We plan to go to the parks for 2 days, Sunday and Monday. We are spending one night at Royal Pacific so we have 2 days of front of the line passes. I need some ideas on where to eat and how to navigate the parks and what is Citywalk all about. My older grands (16, 17, 18 and 23) may want to explore. Potter is a big deal, all the kids love trill rides..me not so much. We do plan to utilises early entry on both days.

You have already made a good choice with staying onsite for unlimited Express Pass......an absolute godsend and such a beautiful hotel too.........

There is so much more to Universal than thrill rides, so you’ll have a blast I’m sure........Potter is amazing......it truly is something to experience........

Compared to Disney, not much planning is needed ESPECIALLY if you will have EP.

We just did 1 day the week after Christmas. Only thing I "planned" ahead (or at least took into consideration) is wanting to ride Hogwarts in both directions, 2 shows we watched and the show times, and if there's anything special going on in Potter World. We had the special holiday castle show when we went so I knew I wanted to end up in that park at night (US).

Citiwalk has lots of good restaurant choices. No need to really book reservations in advance like Disney. Express passes mean you can tackle the parks without having to plan much either. Compared to Disney, it will be very laid back. Have fun with the grands!

Hi I agree about City walk and restaurants. There is also a movie theater and mini golf to play there. We like Bubba Gump Shrimp, Margaritaville, and Toothsome Chocolate Emporium. NBC Grill and Cowfish also get really good reviews. I would suggest the Harry Potter areas in the early morning or later after dinner. These areas are smaller and can be a tight fit when crowded. Enjoy!
