Hiya folks - I have been a long time lurker and have finally decided to take the plunge and introduce myself.
Myself, DW and DD (she will be 6 whilst over there) are going on our first ever trip to WDW for 3 weeks from September 12th to October 3rd. We have taken the 21 day ultimate ticket and also the Universal 14 day Flexiticket.
We are going with Virgin holidays (booked with the Co-op travel) and we are staying onsite at Port Orleans Riverside Quarter - we also have the Disney Dining Plan.
I have made a few ADR's :-
1. Thurs Sep 13 - Tony's Town Square
2. Sat Sep 15 - Boatwrights
3. Mon Sep 17 - Sci-Fi Dine-In Theatre
4. Thurs Sep 20 - Chef Mickey's
5. Sun Sep 23 - Crystal Palace
6. Fri Sep 28 - Cinderella's Royal Table (Our daughters 6th birthday)
I realise that this is not many bookings but we want to play it by ear and book up a few days in advance for some the resturants when we get there and take a walk around seeing where and what we would like it eat. Also, we want to eat at some of the Universal Citywalk resturants (especially the NASCAR cafe for me as I am a huge fan
)
DW is sorting out the pre-buying of clothes whilst I am making my best attempt at trying to sort out somekind of rough plan to our trip. Basically, with a 3 week trip in what from what I have read on many boards an historically quieter time of year at the parks, this should be ample to see everything and also to be able to take the parks at a leisurely pace.
Our DD will be celebrating her 6th birthday whilst she is over there but you would never tell to look at her - she is very tall for her age (takes after me I am afraid as I am 6ft 7") and she is already past the height restrictions for the rides
However, the hardest thing for myself and the wife has been keeping all this a secret from her. Like most little princesses, she is a huge Disney fan and has told us on many occassions that the Disney characters are real in a place called Disneyworld
and has asked if we could go there. I know it is evil but we have told her that it would take a long time for mommy and daddy to save to go there as Disneyworld is a long way away and we will take her eventually but it will take a long, long time. Truth is that we have been saving for years, and she doesn't realise that she will be spending part of her birthday with Cinderella.
We plan on telling her a couple of weeks before we go (probably about the time we would start organising a birthday party for her) and this will hopefully keep the sleepless nights in anticipation of my daughter down to a minimum - the same however cannot be said for myself and the wife
Roll on September 12th - an uncomfortbale flight will be worth the 3 weeks of heaven that hopefully await
