Hello to everyone, I have never posted anything here before, so bear with me. Myself and hubby and 2 year old son are planning our first trip to the Fort. Hubby and myself have been to Disney twice, but have always stayed at hotels. I like to camp and we have taken our son on a few weekend camping trips and he would live outdoors if he could:) The main purpose for the trip is the Fort and for our little guy to experience it. Planning on camping late October. The Fort seems to have alot of ammenties and things to do, and that's perfect because I like to keep busy doing things. So first question we are old fashioning it - tent camping in 8 person tent what sites would be desirable? Question #2 Can you think of supplies/or one essential thing you could not live without.
Thanks in advance for anyone who can help me.

Beer, but that's just my priority. :)

You don't say how far you are driving, or how much "stuff" room you have in the vehicle. Clothes for expected weather, and something for rain and/or cooler than expected.

We always packed a portable DVD player and some movies when we tent camped. Every now and then you want them to be able to chill out in camp and have some down time, esp at that age.

There will soon be some very experienced Fort campers to help with the potential types of sites. You can't reserve a specific site, you make your reservation by type, then they will assign the site when you arrive. However, there might be some loops that are better than others. You can ask for one, but no guarantees.

Have fun, that's the number one priority. :thumbsup2

For tent camping, a partial hookup loop is what you need. Short concrete driveway for your vehicle and large "coquina" sand pad for your tent!! The site also has water and electric right at the site.

In addition to the tent, I would recommend some type of shelter such as an Easy Up or other "dining fly". Set it at the entrance to your tent so that you can get in and out of your tent in the dry.

Couple of chairs and whatever else you like bringing on your weekend trips. The bath houses are super clean.

You also will have electric and CABLE, so you can bring the TV, heater, fan, cell phones, etc. Just make sure you have a power strip or two and at least a 40 ft outdoor extension cord.

FIRST OFF::welcome:

Have a great trip. The only problem is you will probably get addicted like the rest of us..As to your question :confused3 Been doing this so long don't know where to start as to what is an absolute necessity.

Just a thought that came to mind.

Tent camping with a 2 year old? When makiing your ressies, request a site not near water. There are multiple sites which have a pond or stream directly behind them.

Welcome! I have no idea where to find an animated welcome sign, but welcome anyway.

I have not stayed in a tent, but I would recommend a heavy duty extension cord to reach into the tent or EZ-up area, from there use multiple power strips. You will find the comfort stations to be the cleanest around, and very modern with nice tile and large changing areas for the showers.

Warning, your stay at the Fort will be addicting, but look at it like a healthy obsession that will fill your little guys memories with wonder. My oldest is 18 this week, and I was just looking back at old photos this morning of him at Epcot with my wife when he was only three. Take things slow, enjoy a relaxed pace and lots of down-time to soak up the theming. Make lists of things you want to see and do on the many future trips that you will take. Be prepared to be amazed at the enjoyment of seeing the parks through the eyes of your child.

Oh yeah, bring a fishing pole and look for Frank. He knows all the best places to drop in a line and I hear he is a great guy to meet in person.
