First timer ADR Question more then one Family

We are new to this and is our first time making ADR's. We have a disney reservation for the 4 of us and then my in laws have their own reservation for disney. We both have dining plans. Can i make both of our ADR's online together, using both reservations? or do i have to do it over the phone? I am not sure how the reservation system works, can I make it for 6 people or will it know my reservation is only for 4? Or is there a spot online where i can enter their dining reservation so that we will get a table for 6? please help our 180 days is coming soon and I really want to avoid having to do it over the phone if possible!

Relax- you can make ADR's for as many people as you want. People often meet up with family and friends so Disney does not hold you to the number of people on your reservation. After all, it's more money for them if you bring extra people, right?

You can make your ADR's online which I find quicker and simpler than calling. It will ask you for a telephone number where you can be reached on vacation- just pick one of your cell numbers and stick with it. This will make retrieving your reservations easier. Also, jot down your reservation number and bring it with you. And finally, if you can't get a reservation for 6, try plugging in 8. Sometimes things will open up that way. There's no problem showing up with fewer people, but don't book for 4 and expect to show up with 6. It doesn't work that way!

LOL Thank you!!!! I know I am overthinking this, I just hated to try to do it online and then waste time I could of been on hold! So it doesn't matter if my inlaws reservation is any where on the dining reservation?

We are very excited for the first trip with the kids!
