Hi everyone,

I've read through a number of posts in this and other DIS forums to get myself familiar with WDW and all of the things I'll get to see and do while I'm there in January. Since this will be my first trip to Disney (and a solo-one as well), I wanted to see whether there are any others who will be there during the same period, and who might want to meet up with me for a meal or two... I'm booked at the Coronado Springs for Jan 15 through 22 with the DDP.

I've been pouring through the guidebooks, online discussion boards, and the WDW website to try to plan my little getaway. I haven't yet made my dining reservations, but am hoping to get into Chef Mickey's, Crystal Palace, Cinderella's Royal Table, Boma, Akershus, and Sci-Fi Dine-in Theatre for some of my TS meals. I've heard good things about Victoria & Albert's. Is this worth the TS credits (2, I believe) and would it be uncomfortable to dine there solo? What other options would you recommend?

Your tips and recommendations are much appreciated. Also, do let me know if anyone is interested in joining me for a meal, or one of the nightly fireworks shows.

Thanks!

As you will be at CSR, the Pepper Market is a nice place, and is a CS on the DDP, which is a pretty good deal. You have some good choices, but I would prefer 50's PT to the Sci Fi.

Thanks. I was waffling between 50's PT and the Sci-Fi so your recommendation is helpful.

There just seems to be so much to see and do, and I hope that I'll have time to cover off all of the major things in my time there.

Oh man, I'll just miss you!

I'm taking my first solo trip the week before and I can't wait!

It sounds like you're as excited as I am about my upcoming trip. It's 8 weeks and 6 days away! Have you already booked your dining? I'm wondering how tough it can be to get solo reservations to some of the character dining.

V&A is not on the Dining Plan. :rotfl: :rotfl: Since the minimum price is $115 (without any alcoholic beverages) plus tip and tax, if it were on the Dining Plan it would probably be five or six credits.

There have been reports of people dining solo there with no problem.

Yes, I'm anal, I booked all my dining the minute I could, lol

hehe... I was just wondering whether you're a Virgo. I'm quite fussy myself, and am happy to report that I booked all of my dining earlier tonight after pouring through a few different lists and such. I got reservations at all of my preferred places, so I'm pretty happy.

Guess it's just me who's the anal-retentive, fastidious Virgo

Hi Care! I will be at Disney Jan 20th-28th and I am staying at Pop Century.

Hi Jenn! Is this your first trip (solo or otherwise) to Disney? What are your plans for Jan 20 and 21? There's another person from this forum who will be at Disney at the same time, and we're hoping to meet up for a meal and/or one of the evening fireworks. Let me know if you're interested in joining us. Cheers!

Hey Care,This is my 3rd Trip to Disney World but my 1st solo trip.I probably won't get in until 1:30 or 2:00 on the 20th so I figured I would just go Downtown Disney for Dinner because I heard it is not good to waste a day on my Disney Tickets since I am getting in late in the afternoon but I do not have anything planned for the 21st I was thinking maybe the Magic Kingdom but nothing is set in stone.

Hi Jenn, If you're getting Disney tickets for your entire stay, I think the difference for that extra day is around $3. I think that Saturday (Jan 20) will be another Magic Kingdom day for me. I'm planning to get out to Downtown Disney in the evening, and perhaps check out the night scene on Pleasure Island. I'd love some company if you're up to it. Sunday morning is likely to be a lazy one since I have brunch booked for 10:30 am at 'Ohana with Lilo & Stitch, and will possibly spend the afternoon at Animal Kingdom (although that's not definite) before grabbing dinner at Downtown Disney. Must use up that $15 gift certificate for Planet Hollywood before I leave on the 22nd. I can hardly wait... 7 weeks and 5 days!
