Hi Everyone!
So I really wasn't sure about starting a TJ or PJ because I've never done one before but I think this might be the best way to reach out to my fave Disney people for advice and guidance on this trip!
I am VERY lucky to have a close group of friends. One in particular has been there for me through thick and thin over the past few years, and I have been there for her. We've both gone through a lot of life changes and while there's a bit of a age/lifestyle difference between us (I'm in my 20's, single no children, she's in her 30's married with children) I consider her among my closest friends.
I am a Disney NUT. If I'm not there, I'm dreaming about the next time I'll be there. I love everything about the place, and it's the only place I really feel relaxed regardless of the army pace I keep some days lol. I almost always do Disney solo though, this is mostly because my friends have young children, mortgages, budgets, etc but also I don't want people slowing me down,
. My last trip was this past May with the guy I was dating at the time. It was an absolute Disney disaster
. Things had been strained in the relationship for a bit already, and we spent the majority of the trip fighting and me dealing with the fact that he was a miserable bugger without any sense of fun or adventure
. It absolutely soured what could have been a great solo trip if I had only thought ahead, lol. I had thought it would be my last Disney trip for a long time because of some life things I have going on right now (school, finances, jobs, etc). Sometimes good things come to those who least expect it though right?......
My friend S comes into some money and starts talking about taking her girls to Disney. This isn't something that would normally be in the budget for them and this is definitely a once in a lifetime trip for the family. So we start talking and she knows I know the place like the back of my hand and she's asking me to plan things like where to stay, DP or not, flights, etc. I asked if she wanted me to plan out her days too, like parks, which rides to do, how to best use fastpass. She looked at me like I had three heads and said "Uh, you're coming with us".
uhh not in the budget my friend. I guess she had talked it over with her husband the night before and after the year I've had and the fact that I practically live with them already they're PAYING for my trip!
My payment to them is to play tourguide and babysit for 1 night during the trip to she and her husband can go out for a nice dinner together sans children. I THINK I can handle that,
.
SO this will be my first time going to Disney with a group, let alone a family, let alone children! I am SO excited as it'll be a completely different way to see the World. She has 2 kids, DD11 and DD8. I will be posting pics on this PJ but I won't put any of my friends family up until I check with her that she's alright with it. I know I am going to need a LOT of help with planning this one, especially from people with kids so I'm VERY hopeful some people start reading this PJ.
Here are the details so far
Planning on May 2012, probably beginning of the month
Planning on 9 days there
Planning on staying at a Value resort and adding on the DP. I know a lot of people don't like the DP and don't think there's much value in it but all of the adults going like a good steak and it's more the convenience than anything we're looking at the DP for
And THAT'S about all we got so far, lol. We're going to book in this next week or so and then will be able to do some more solid planning from there.
I look forward to sharing with you and am excited to hear about your experiences and recommendations!
Cheers!
