I'm going down in January but we are flying in and staying at the Caribbean Beach. Will take notes and let you know how it goes.

But from what I've read on these boards, it's FUN, FUN FUN!

We took a similar trip in May, 2001, and wil be doing it again in December. 3 days at WDW isn't enough for us, though, so we've added a few extra days before and after the cruise.

We were in room 6083 the first time, and wil be in 6085 this time. The cruise was amazing. It was also our first cruise, and neither one of us really knew what to expect, but we had a great time. The ship is spectacular, and we loved that area of deck 6 enough to make a special request for it again!

We also stayed at Port Orleans Riverside, in the Alligator Bayou section. Your 8 year old should love it. The landscaping is gorgeous, and there are always ducks and bunnies running around. The room was very nice, and it should be plenty big enough for three (I certainly hope so, since we'll be a party of three this time instead of two, but still all adults.

I have a few pictures on my website of both rooms (hotel and ship) if you'd like to check them out Beth's World .

I'm sure you'll have a "Wonder"ful trip!

When we took our first cruise we had been at WDW for about a week and were looking forward to the cruise. Not knowing what to expect, we went to a park for a few hours in the morning, came back to our room and finished packing the car for the trip over to the port. Since boarding didn't start until 1 (officially) I decided we should have lunch at the hotel before we left (it was after lunch time when we could board the ship and we would have to wait until dinner to eat - wrong wrong, wrong!!). So we got to the port late, had lunch again (the buffet), rushed around looking at the ship, did the safety drill, got ready for dinner - whew!!

The right way to do it is: catch the earliest bus over to the port (I assume you have the land/sea package). Enjoy the terminal, board the ship as soon as possible, make Palo and spa reservations as needed, enjoy the buffett, explore the ship (or bring your swim suits in your carryon bags and go swimming - the pools will be at their least crowdedness) and enjoy. The whole key to this is the same as at the parks, get started early!!

Have a great trip!
