Please help me choose!

First about us. Family of 4 all adults (50,48,22,20)
Trip dates 5/13/23-5/19/23

Seriously this is so overwhelming that I'd rather be planning a DWD trip instead! We are looking at staying one of the offsite hotels. My husband prefers one with interior hallways and breakfast included. I've been looking at packages (hotel and airfare) through expedia and they seem reasonable. I think I have it narrowed down to three hotels. Can you all tell me what is the best value over all. Not just the cheapest. Which one has better food, cleanest rooms, comfortable beds, thin walls ect...

1st on the list is the Hyatt House. The room we picked is a studio with 2 queen beds and a sofa sleeper. With airfare the total cost for 6nts is 2483.72

2nd on the list is the Desert Palms hotel and suites. This room is a deluxe with 2 queen beds. Price with airfare is1974.07 or a room with a king bed and bunk beds for 2085.08. Anyone stayed here and had two adult kids sleep on those bunks. Are they large enough?

3rd hotel is Staybridge suites @anahiem. This room has 2 queen beds and a sofa sleeper. Price with airfare is 2265.60.

All prices do not include rental car or the parking fee at the hotel. These are my three runners up, if you think there is a better options please don't hesitate to let me know.

Thanks

First, I would definitely research to make sure that it’s better to do a package than book separately. I like Getawaytoday if I’m looking at park tickets or tickets and hotel.

Are you planning to do other things or just DL? If the latter, you may not need a rental car.

If airfare isn’t wildly different in cost, most of us recommend flying into SNA rather than LAX.

Our family of 4 is almost the exact same as yours with 2 adult children - now 19 and 22. We've stayed at the Desert Palms twice now and have made it our go-to hotel now. We had a great visit back in July 2021 so went there again last week (Oct 2022). We chose the 1 bedroom suite with kitchen for the first visit and tried the Deluxe studio suite this time. Only major difference was the kitchen portion but we didn't really use it last time so went with the slightly cheaper Deluxe Studio Suite this time. Both setups have 2 queen beds and a queen or maybe double size pullout couch. Son doesn't mind pullout couches so he volunteers to take that each time. Can't say how the bunk beds are but the other beds are pretty good.

Reasons we like the Desert Palms are the fair rates, walking distance (10 mins) to entrance with no major intersection crossings, very good (for a hotel) breakfast spread, proximity to stores (7-11, walgreens, CVS, all right by it), nice and clean facilities and rooms, interior hallways, and quiet rooms (so far we have not really heard anyone running around or stomping or making a ruckus in our 2 visits.) Oh, and we haven't had elevator issues like at some other hotels we've tried where you get stuck waiting ages while everyone is in a rush to go out or back - so that's a bonus.

We have stayed at Hyatt House years ago and it was fine although I think the rates are higher for not much difference that I can recall. Have not stayed at Staybridge.

We are only doing 2 or 3 days at disney and the others will be seeing other sites in LA and also showing our daughter Camp Pendleton (where she was born). We just want one hotel as our base for the 6nts we're there. I'll also run the number again for SNA. Is that airport closer to Anaheim?

Thank you so much for the info! I think we're 99% positive we'll be booking this one.

Yes, much closer. Around a 15-20 minute drive and not usually much traffic unless you land around 5pm on a weekday. LAX can be an hour or more drive. SNA is also way smaller of an airport (which we like) but that means less flights to it. But we always fly there if at all possible.

SNA is definitely closer to Anaheim than LAX. It's about 20-30 minutes, and it's a nice small airport that's easy to get around.

We've stayed at Hyatt House and liked it. Nice pool, good breakfast, clean rooms, very comfortable beds. The walk was 20 minutes but that probably depends on how fast you walk. We had young kids so it may have taken longer because of that.

We have stayed at both Desert Palms and Hyatt house. For the price difference I would choose Dessert Palms. We had a great stay and loved the breakfast room. It’s on the top floor and had great views of DCA.

Other hotels that meet your criteria would be Home 2 Suites and Element if you want to check into those as well.

Have a great trip!

I wanted to come back and thank everyone for the information. I put off booking when I posted this thread. Something just wouldn't let me do it. Well today I was looking again and the package with airfare and staying at the desert palms hotel was 200.00 cheaper. I guess that was my sign to book it! LOL

Again thank you everyone!

I'm not sure where your departure airport is, but I almost always fly into Long Beach (LGB) because of the ease and generally lower cost for my flights. It's approximately the same distance from DLR and similar cost for ride share as SNA but is usually a lot cheaper flight for me. It's small, and so if you're not flying SW or something that goes to LGB, it won't really work for you.
