First time not staying onsite

I can't believe that we are not staying onsite this year for our WDW trip
We will be at the Drury Inn from Nov 24th till Dec 1st. My DW crunched the numbers and staying offsite will save us about $1,100.00 Been to WDW 8 times and always stayed at Fort Wilderness except for our honeymoon in 1985 where we stayed at the contemporary.

How would you save $1100 over staying at a Value on property? You can stay at an All Star for around $100 per night.

I just plugged in your dates and you could stay at All Star Movies for 8 nights for $862. The other hotel would have to be less than free to be an $1100 savings. What am I missing?

We always stay at a condo off-site. We have a family of 7 though... We usually find a 3 bedroom condo for $600-$700 for 7 nights.

I've never stayed on-site so I don't know what I'm missing. I've never stayed in a hotel either though. At least you get to go for Thanksgiving! That will be fun

My DW says the savings are from the fact that Drury Inn provides free breakfast and supper. She also used the moderate resorts as the bases for her $$. A friend of hers stayed at one of the all stars and had nothing good to say about them, told us to stay away from the value resorts.

The value resorts are the equivalent to a Drury Inn IMO.
