Okay, so I grew up in the city and i've always wanted to go camping. Fort Wilderness seems really awesome and i'd love to pitch a tent and what not. The thing is...i've never done it before XD Do they have tents, sleeping bags, cots, etc. for rent? And i'm assuming there's showers and bathrooms around the camping area. It just seems really unique and fun but I have no idea how to go about it!

Great place for the first time camper. Bathroom and showers are cleaner then most homeowners bathrooms. (I am a plumber I see a lot of bathrooms) Go buy you a tent and set it up in your backyard for practice that way when you get to FW it easy to do.

I thank they do rent all that stuff but a tenter will be along with more info. I am a rv'er. Although we did tent it once in FW.

Thanks for the info! I was hoping they would rent because I don't see myself ever using the tent again XD I'm sure I could use some practice though, I might put an eye out

Have you considered . . . .

Buying a used tent

Borrowing a tent from a friend/relative

Renting an RV (you can even rent RV's here in Orlando)

Whatever you choose, you'll love the Fort!

You can rent a tent and cot at The Fort,,, but after a few days rental you could have bought you one.

I hadn't thought about the RV thing. I don't think i've ever been inside one. I'll have to check it out!

The rentals are really that expensive?!! Maybe i'll look into buying one just for my FW trip, and then if I like FW I can use the tent for those specific trips. I like the idea of having a tent just for Disney XD

I don't know what size tent you are looking for, but I was checking out some tent prices on the internet last night to find myself a smaller tent for DH and DS's cub scouting trips and saw some great sales. The prices were ranging from $20 to $100 for decent 4-8 person tents. While they may not the best options for long-term or frequent tent camping (I don't know because I've never tried any of them), it looks like there is good potential for an occasional trip and they may save you some $$ over renting the items at Disney, even if you only use the tent once.

Oh...and when you check out tents, be sure to look for something that will hold roughly twice the number of people staying in it. You'll be glad you did!

It would be probably cheaper to buy a tent than rent one to camp in FW. There may be sales now since it's nearing the end of the season. I would practice "camping" before coming to WDW to do so as well. Have a nice time.

Just be careful people who camp here once find it hard to leave and it becomes addictive next you will want a trailer then someday you will want a class A motor home i haven't reached that final level yet but sure i will someday
