Hi everybody,
I am trying to organise a trip to Disneyland Paris in June, for me, my husband and a two year old.
I have no idea where to start, so hoping some of you disney experts can help me.

First of all where to stay:
I was looking at Disney Sequoia Lodge, but then i read somewhere that there is no hot food for breakfast, i know you can pay extra but is this the case with all of the disney hotels? What is included in the breakfast buffet?

We would like to stay in a nice hotel (that doesnt cost the earth) as we will be in the room more seeing as DS is very small. So anyone any recomendations, what is Hotel New York like, which would be better/nicer?

Board Basis:
We were thinking of going on a b&b basis, but have been reading where other people go half board to save money. Does this make you very restricted to going back to the hotel at a certain time for dinner? Can you eat at other restaurants in the park under this? And can you eat at any of the different hotels if your not staying there?

I would really appreciate any info or feedback you can give me requiring all the basics, want a hassle free holiday.

Thanks in advance, and im sure il be hounding you guys with loads of questions :rolleyes1

We just went in October for the first time as a family. DH and I went once years ago, before kids.

We stayed in the Sequoia Lodge, in a Golden Forest room. The room was fine. Nothing amazing but nothing bad either. We liked the hotel fast pass (1 fast pass per person per day, not usable between 1 and 4, I think it was) and the separate dining room with characters. A hot breakfast would have been nice, but we did fine without one. The buffet had more than enough for us to eat daily--cereal, fruit, cheese, meats, bread, etc. They did have some very, very slow toasters too. We also liked the afternoon teas and cakes you can get with the Golden Forest rooms. If you are likely to do a nap, you would be more likely to use that. I think my kids ate their weight in brownies and donuts the one day we did.

We went on just a b&b basis as we weren't sure what we would want to eat. I did book the Sunday brunch at Inventions before we went, but that was it. We made a few other reservations while we were there, and it was a terribly busy time. It all depends on what you like to eat though. We were fine with having counter service meals the whole time if we had to, though we did end up with a table service or buffet meal each day but our first night.

Hi!

Our first trip when our daughter was 2 and it was a magical time!

I love both the Sequoia Lodge and the Hotel New York. You can't go wrong with either of them.

With a 2yo the bonuses of the HNY are that it is a (slightly) shorter walk to the parks which is a consideration when you have a stroller! Also there are hot items available at breakfast - bacon, sausages, scrambled eggs and potatoes. The buffet breakfasts generally include bread rolls, croissants, pastries, bread (for toasting), butter, jam, marmalade, honey, Nutella, fruit salad, yoghurts, cereals, cold meats and cheese as well as hot drinks & fruit juice. You can pay extra to have hot items at the SL if you fancy them, we ordered the scrambled eggs one morning and shared the enormous plateful amongst us!

Another consideration is that not all little ones take to the characters straight away - ours did! She loves the Golden Forest and especially having characters there for breakfast. Price-wise the Golden Forest is similar to the New York in my experience. My point being that it you went for the GF and your lo didn't like characters, breakfast could be interesting!

I love the smell of the New York - ahhhhhhh!

I have used the vouchers once. I think they are useful if you want to know that your holiday is paid for up front but I use my shareholders card to get a bigger discount then the vouchers offer. I know they are quite popular though. (It's also really annoying if you find out at the end of a meal that you have left the vouchers in the hotel room..... :rolleyes1 )

Yes the vouchers are valid for the hotel restaurants as well as the park restaurants - the different standard of vouchers get you different options. I think if you went for the New York you get a higher standard of voucher than with the SL but that may have changed now? You can eat in any of the hotel restaurants while you are there. You may find that the buffet restaurants are good with your lo as you can let them eat food off your plate - under 3's don't get a voucher with the meal plans.

One little tip - try and avoid the French holidays - I believe the 9th is Whit Monday - as the parks get very busy!

Happy planning!!
:goodvibes

We've stayed in Disneyland Hotel last time and next time we're staying in Hotel New York. Both have hot breakfast, but none of the other hotels do. You can also pay extra for hot breakfast in Cafe Mickey in Disney Village.
TBH, if you plan on using the room a lot, and going back in the middle of the day for a nap, I would stay in DLH. It's so handy. But obviously it's a lot more expensive!

Re the meal plans, you can get a hotel meal plan, just for use in the hotel restaurants, and also
half board or full board standard, plus or premium. Your LO will be free as they're under 3, so buffet restaurants would be suitable for you as they can eat as much as they like.

Im going sequoia lodge in may, staying 4 nights 5 days. Just been into travel agent this morning to add on the half board plus package but after she quoted me the price I have decided against it. £276, based 2 adults (my self and 12 year) and 1 child.

Thinking I would save money by just paying at the time.
I have stayed at sequoia lodge in 2006, and I like it.

Hi, we're off in April (yay!) with our 2yr old. We went for sequoia lodge and gf room as we plan on having nap time and hopefully chill out, play areas/swimming away from the bustle. Dlh would have been great, but cost was massive for us. We're of HB plus as it was on offer when we booked, I'm not sure it'll save us huge amount or if I'd buy it but we will see.
Good luck planning, I have become crazy over it all, pretty normal for me!, but trying to remember 2yo does not like plans and breaking them sends me nutty, so we're more hakuna Matata, well trying!!

hi when we did our first trip our LO was 3 and we didnt book any vouchers as wasnt sure what there was food wise. I generally find the food pretty standard in the parks although we didnt eat everywhere. We took alot of snack type food in our case and we would carry a snack/food box and dilute juice around with us during the afternoon and most days just ate at mcdonalds as found it alot cheaper and easier to get her to eat (not really ideal eating mcdonalds each day but as its for only 5 days and a massive treat we let it go!)

We did eat out most evenings though and our favourite was the rainforest cafe cost around £100-120 for 2 adults 2 kids but was lovely. We didnt do any character meals as when they are so young it can be a bit daunting and they are hugely overpriced for the food (apparently!!)

Also if your little one is a bit picky with breakfast it may be better picking a hotel with a hot breakfast, my eldest was 6 and was fine with croissants but the 3 year old struggled to eat much at breakfast - ham sandwhichs not really ideal but at least she was eating.
