This is going to be my very first trip to disney ever so I was a little confused as to where you park and how you actually get into the MK. I understand that at Epcot, MGM and AK you can park in their parking lots, then walk or take a tram to the entrance, but its different at MK, so if your driving, how do you get into the park? :confused3

Once you park your car, you can take a tram or walk to the Transportation and Ticket Center (TTC). From there, you can either take the monorail or a ferry boat over to the MK. There, you will have any bags searched, present your ticket, and enter the Happiest Place on Earth. :sunny:

If you are driving and taking the Magic Kingdom path it will lead you to the Ticket Center. There you can catch a monorail or ferry to the Magic Kingdom. :cool1:

About how long does it take once you park your car?
It depends on what time of the day you go and what 'season'. In the 'off season', if you get to the TTC around park opening, you may have to wait a few 'loads' onto the monorail or ferry. The trip itself is not long but the total wait and transport time could be.

They say the ferryboat ride and the monorail should both take approximately the same amount of time from the Transportation Center to MK.

I don't really believe that. I've taken both dozens of times and I think the ferry definitely takes longer. Now, both are managable, but the monorail is slightly faster. Plus, the monorail is so...Disney. But the ferryboat ride is very cool.

We like to take the ferry going to MK, love to see it slowly come closer into view. Then we take the monorail back to the car in the evening.

How does handicapped parking work for the MK?

HP is right up close to the TTC. From there you would take Ferry or Monorail.

I never take the ferryboat to get to the MK, but to get back to the TTC I probably take it more often than I do the monorail, with all the people getting out of after Wishes the monorail always seems to have a huge line while the ferryboat holds such a huge amount of people, you can usually get on the next one. But the monorail's are continuous and the wait isn't that bad, but on the ferry you get a great view leaving the MK!!!!

The ferry boat is about the coolest way to go or come back from the MK, with all the lights from the lake and resorts, plus the warm summer Florida air blowing through the ferry, and Disney music playing is a great way to start but better way to end a MK visit. The lines for the monorail can be huge going to the TTC but the resorts on the monorail loop are manageable, we mostly stay on the monorailloop of resorts just for the convenience of returning and the MK is our favorite park.
