We are travelling from Peterborough to Buffalo Airport for the 1st time. Flying to
Orlando on Southwest ... leaving around 5:00 PM.

We usually fly out from Toronto Pearson on Air Canada and I need all your help.
How long would it take to drive from Peterborough to Buffalo Airport? What is the best route to take? Anything else you can tell me would be great!

I live in Mississauga and it takes us about a hour and a half to get to the Buffalo airport.

Check out the Buffalo Airport they have directions from Canada listed on there.
Basically we take the QEW Niagara to the 405 and cross at Queenston Lewiston and take the I-190, to the I-290 to the I-90. And its exit 33 the exits right before Walden Galleria.
It seems like a lot of highways but really it takes very little time.

If your coming from that far you might want to think about getting a hotel room around the airport, that's what we used to do when we lived farther away. We also always take a couple of extra days on our vacation just incase of a snowstorm on our way there or home.

Have a great trip!

We took a bus trip to the Walden Galleria leaving from Oshawa it took approximately three hours including a 15 minute coffee stop at Tim Horton's and the border crossing ( we left at 6am on a Saturday morning). We are flying out of Buffalo later this year and are staying in a hotel which provides onsite parking. We take into consideration traffic, accidents, construction and weather so we plan to give ourselves a lot of time to get there. The worse part of the drive is just getting across the city of Toronto to the QEW.
Good Luck with your trip.

We're flying out of Buffalo on Feb 2nd and we've booked a hotel there the night before just in case of bad weather plus our flight leaves at 7:30 AM . :sunny: We always like to arrive at an airport with lots of time to kill. :)

Good luck and have a great time! :wizard:

We flew from Buffalo in November. Our flight was at about 12:30 and so I wanted to be at airport 90 minutes before that and had concerns about the border.

We left Port Hope between 7- 7:30 and was at the airport in a little over 3 hours.

We took 401 - Brock Rd - 407 - QEW to Buffalo. This was on a weekday and the traffic really wasn't too bad, alto it was a little slow through Oshawa/Pickering.

The drive home was also about 3 hours

Have a great trip

We have driven twice from Omemee and head to the 401 then the 403 to the QEW, then the QEW right to the end (ends at the border). Then the I-190 to exit 51? (airport exit). The drive took about 3.5 hours I think.

If you go to mapquest.com and enter your home address as well as the ending address you should get a nice map to follow.

It was a very easy drive. We had early morning flights so stayed at a stopover hotel right near BUF the night before. This way we could drive down at a leisurely pace. The stopover hotels run around $90-105 US and include a night lodging, plus parking for your holiday as well as a shuttle to/from hotel. As well as breakfast.
Both times we stayed at the Comfort Suites on Dick Road and loved it. The pool and hot tub are great there.

Hopefully hockey mom will respond to this thread. She is in Peterborough and has driven to BUF a lot.

We have flown out of Buffalo 3 times now.

Why 5pm? You are about to hit major, MAJOR rush hour.

We take 401(depending on time of day) or we spring for the 407.

It ususally takes us about 3 -3half hours.

If your flight leaves at 5 PM and your hitting Buffalo around 3, no worries about Rus hour traffic. Cross at either Queenston or Fort Erie, which ever has the shorter wait, take 190 S to 90 East to 33 East.

Oh one more thing, have fun!!

It's not the rush hour in Buffalo you need to worry about, it's getting through TO traffic that presents the problem. Give yourself plenty of time! Have a great time!
