it will be dbf's first time driving in america. we are leaveing the airport at 5pm ish and i was wondering what the traffic between orlando international and disney is like at this time and do you find the drive easy?

You might find the I4 a bit busy - going home time just like here - For your first time at driving I would poss give that a miss and go other routes. Just take your time and don't worry too much. Other traffic will just pass you if you're taking your time.
Don't do what we did though, the first time we went - me and DH nearly had a divorce before we even got to where we were staying :rotfl:

Take the South Access road exit from the airport, onto SR417 (Central Florida Greenway) off onto SR536 (World Centre Drive) and follow into WDW.

Done it this way for past 18 trips, never seen it busy and for me easiest way.

I agree with Gingernut - take it slow and chill out. The car hire companies provide you with maps showing the route, but for the first time I would use the toll-roads, it may cost a few bucks (in coins) but it is very much easier than the I4 at rush hour.

I'm sure there is a "drive through" with photo's on the kissimmeeUS-192 website, this is great to print off and have as a guide.

The thing which caught me out is they overtake on each side if you know what I mean.:confused3

that looks like a good route, but i think it would be better for us to come off on west osceola parkway because we're staying at all star sports

I believe we went that way once and you hit an extra toll which is unmanned, couldn't get it to accept our money, paid about double what we should and still didn't register it so always come off before that exit now but we do usually stay LBV area, not All stars. All tolls we use are manned which I prefer.

lol o dear, knowing my luck the same thing would happen to me! central florida greenway definitely seems like the better road to take though.

also, how much are the tolls because we'll need to get some change before we leave the airport

thanks, we've got a few one dollar notes but we'll have to get a bit of change as well

Out of interest, do the toll roads accept notes and coins, or just coins? Probably seems a silly question, but since we haven't driven in over 10yrs in America, and never through any toll roads, I have no idea! :lmao:

Most we come across have a person in the toll booth, there you can use anything. The unmanned ones which we rarely see then its coins only as they work with the weight of the coins.

Sam

We stay at Coronado Spring and always go the same way as Wayne - All Stars are just straight on past CSR - really easy to get to :thumbsup2

i think we will end up going that way to save ourselves the extra toll
