Hi Everyone,

I normally post over on the WDW boards, but we are thinking of taking our first time Disney Cruise in April...

I just wanted to get people's opinion on our planned route and see if anyone had ever done the Southern Caribbean before.

We are a newly married couple in our 30's, from Southern California and usually make our way to WDW one every two (although lately it's been every) years.

We came upon the Southern Caribbean Cruise leaving out of San Juan by listening to the Dreams podcast and were interested in the ports. We're not big beach people, and have heard mixed reviews of the Bahamas so that's really never interested us, but for some reason this sounded like fun.

My big question is since the Southern Caribbean doesn't include a stop at Castaway Cay, will we miss it...?

Any helpful tips or ticks on this itinerary would be appreciated.

If you're not beach people and this itinerary is intriguing then I'd definitely go for it. Castaway Cay is awesome but it's a day at the beach, an awesome day at the beach, but still a day at the beach. Also, since you've never been to Castaway Cay you won't feel like you're missing out, as you don't know what you're missing. The ship alone has so much to offer and the Southern Caribbean itinerary comes highly rated among the boards.

We're in our 30s and headed on the April 30th Southern Caribbean. We have two small children but we started cruising with DCL before the kids came around and always had a blast. Some of these ports offer a lot outside of the beach too. San Juan & St Lucia especially! St. Lucia has a volcano and waterfalls, Puerto Rico has forts and a rain forest. If you head over to Cruise Critic's forums you'll find a ton of information about each port. Since the Southern Caribbean itinerary is a newer itinerary to DCL it is hard to find a lot of info on DIS regarding it. I'd offer more about these ports but all of our plans revolve around the beach or snorkeling.

The Southern Caribbean cruises are not stopping at CC, but if you do the re-po to Port Canaveral there is a stop there, if that works for you. We love CC, thats why I was so happy we are doing a B2B this cruise.
Its 6 nights beginning May 7th out of San Juan. with stops in Tortola, St. Kitts, Antiqua and Castaway Cay.
