I just booked a Disney Cruise. It is my first time cruising. I usually go to wdw every year but it has just been to crowded and frantic as of late so we decided to try something new. Wondering if anyone can offer any info, advice, tips etc. for a first time cruiser. Also how does tipping work on the ship. I'm quite confused on that particularly.

Gratuities are $12 per guest (each person in your room is a guest) per night. That $12 breaks out to $4 per guest per night to your room host; $4 per guest per night to your dining room server; $3 per guest per night to your asst server; and $1 per guest per night to your head server.

The $12 per night will be charged to your onboard account. At the end of the cruise you'll get a coupon sheet and envelopes for the tipped positions. Each coupon has printed on it the name, position, and amount of tip. You separate the coupons and put them in the appropriate envelope (printed with the position title). Then you hand them the correct person on the last night.

Other things - any purchased beverages will have an auto-gratuity of 15% added. This is pooled and divided by all beverages servers and bartenders. Spa services also have an auto-gratuity (18%).
