So I went shopping today and they had ribs on sale so I figured I would give them a try. I have no idea the best way to cook them. My boyfriend at least wants them finished on the grill but they can start in the oven or in a stockpot. Does anyone have a recipe that they would like to share that makes awesome tasting ribs. THANKS!!!:goodvibes

I'm no master chef but I pour a bottle of BBQ sauce on them and slow cook them in the oven for a couple hours at about 300 degrees, then finish it off on the grill. This way, they are super tender, fully cooked and I don't have to worry about burning them.

I do the same thing. Cook them in the oven at 300 for 2 1/2-3 hours. Cover them with foil and not touching the oven until time is up. They are the most tender and fall off the bone ribs

Similar to above; low and slow in the oven (which is much easier to do than trying to keep the heat even on the bbq).

Brush rack of ribs with olive oil and season heavily with seasoning salt, pepper and garlic powder. I also sprinkle with a squeeze of lemon and a few drops of smoke flavouring. Place ribs bone side down on a sheet of foil large enough to wrap around and crimp together to form a sealed package. Roast @ 275 or 300 (no higher) for 4 hours. I open the package and brush with bbq sauce for the final 30 minutes or heat the grill to "mark them" and brush the sauce on then.

WHATEVER YOU DO, DON'T BOIL THE RIBS!!

I boil mine first on the stove with a handful of pickling spice and then finish on grill or in oven with BBQ sauce. Makes them super tender.

I wrap them tightly in foil, put on pan, roast for a either slow and low for several hours at 225 or roast at 325 for a couple of hours. Then finish on the grill adding BBQ if you want for about 30 mins. I do it this way because we use a propane grill. If I used a charcoal grill I would not even use the oven.

For years and years I always parboiled my ribs too. Then I watched Alton Brown do it and when he pulled the ribs out of the water he said "Can you smell how good that water smells? It smells good because that's where all the taste is." LOL

Since then I have been precooking them in the oven set low for a couple hours. I'll either put some BBQ sauce on them or just seal them in the roasting pan with a little water covered with foil.

Then onto the grille with more sauce to finish.

If I couldn't do them in a smoker, I'd do them in a slow cooker.

Put your favorite rub on both sides of the ribs, wrap them around outer wall of the slow cooker and cook them on low for 8 hours. No water or sauces necessary.

Take them out (be careful--they'll be falling off the bone), dress with your favorite BBQ sauce and them finish then on the grill or under a broiler for 5 minutes or so.

Here's mine.

- Put ribs in slow cooker (you can also do this with pork butt or shoulder).
- Pour in a can or two of regular Coke
- Cook on low for 6-8 hours
- Drain off all liquid
- For ribs, I put them on a cookie sheet and slather them in sauce and put them under the broiler for a few minutes
- For shredded pork, after pouring off the liquid I shred the meat then add sauce and put that on warm for a half hour

There is something about the Coke that tenderizes the meat and makes it juicy, tender and tasty

I have a smoker so I use that. I actually just smoked some last night. Use your favorite dry rub and smoke them for roughly 45 minutes per pound. When they're done, cover them with your favorite sauce or eat them dry.

I NEVER EVER EVER boil my ribs. All the flavor goes into the water.

I would say it depends on if they are baby back or spare ribs.

I normally put a small amount of molasses on them, just enough to make them sticky. They a rub of salt, pepper, garlic powder, and smoked paprika. Indirect heat, or the oven if I'm lazy, for a few hours. Then finish on direct heat on the grill for 5-10 min per side. Most BBQ sauces will burn if on direct heat for more than about 3 min.

Whatever you do, don't put anything except Memphis-style barbecue sauce on your ribs! ;)

I use my roaster rack for the turkey to cook my ribs in. I cut them in half, and stand them on end between the slots. Then cover with foil.

Some people use BBQ sauce from the start, others put it on in the last 30 minutes or so. I cook my ribs at 250 degrees for 4-6 hours depending on how many I have.

This is for pork ribs, I only tried beef ribs once and didn't care for them.

Thanks everyone with the suggestions. I will be making them tomorrow. I am going to bake them and then grill them for 30. I am going to be using Sweet Baby Rays BBQ sauce. I will report back on how they turn out.

As a side note, for a side, I am going to make the Maui Scalloped potatoes from the chef Mickey cookbook that my boyfriend bought me. The recipe is from 'Ohana. Made the before and they were great and I figured they would make a good side dish.

First, I marinate them in Italian salad dressing. Remove ribs and add a dry rub. Next, wrap in foil and add a little coke to tenderize.. Slow cook on a grill. Pour off drippings and add sauce. Put back on grill, until done.
