Mom and I took a day trip to WDW yesterday and part of our plans included dinner at Grand Floridian Cafe and, at least for me, it was the best meal I've ever had on property.
Despite being seated late, our server was really nice and attentive. We were seated in the back section, along the windows which resulted in a decent view of the MK fireworks.
I started with the grilled (yes, grilled!) romaine salad with grilled veggies and a lemon-coriander vinaigrette. It was served cold and you could really taste the grilled flavor in the lettuce. It was SO unique and different that I couldn't help but love it.
Main dish was shrimp and grits and, by golly, it was phenomenal. The shrimp were large, the sauce was fantastic, the grits were creamy. I was raving about it all night. I added on a side of scallops and they were incredible. Living in Florida, we can get good seafood at home, but this was one better than scallops at home.
Dessert was the chocolate fondue, which came with fresh fruit, angel food cake, and campfire toasted marshmallows. The pineapple was a miss for me, but the bananas in chocolate were great, the angel food cake was lovely, but the marshmallows in chocolate was divine!
Mom had the key lime pie tart which was beautiful and delicious. It was, as we agreed, tourist friendly. It was a good balance of sweet and tart. I think we tend to gravitate to key lime pie a little more on the tart side, but this was very, very good and the presentation was beautiful! Not keen on the mango sorbet on the side but whatever.
All in all, phenomenal meal! It was a bit pricey but worth it for the food. Pics coming when I can size them down to be a forum friendly size.
