I booked my first stay HOME (SSR) in Oct. with my DH & DD(3) and am also renting points to my brothers family totaling six of them. His kids don't know about the trip. They are only staying three nights of our seven night stay. I keep showing him pictures of SSR, the pools and work out facilities and I get ZERO reaction. I managed to make him a few ADR's because I bought some coupons from restaurant.com. I explained that he wouldn't want to totally wing it with those coupons being such a good deal and that there is SIX of them. He was like WHATEVER. We never stayed on site growing up always drove home to grandmas the night after a long day at MK. He has no idea how awesome it is to leave the parks and be by the pool with drink in hand 45 min. After leaving the parks. AWSOME!! So I spend my nights obsessing reading the Disboards. Does it get easier after your first stay Home or does it get worse. Seriously I need to start taking xynax to help get to sleep at night and get off the boards!! Do I need help or is this normal? My DH is ok with going but not as excited as me. I wish I could go right now for a few day just to get some kinda fix or something. UGGGGGGH!!

Well, I'm excited FOR you! LOL-don't worry, he'll come around. Once he's experienced everything you have in store, he'll be a believer. Have a blast! :goodvibes

Everyone will have a gret time and it just gets worse..and better...DIS is here because we truly GET it and it's nice to have a group around you who doesn't think you are totally crazy :)

Not everyone 'gets it' like we do, even my wife who is very much a fan, doesn't always share my degree of excitement. It's probably fortunate as otherwise we'd have 100s more DVC points, with the appropriate loss of ££!

booooo!!!! i'm sorry they arent excited like you. However, i bet AFTER the trip they'll be excited to go back! hang in there and just keep posting your enthusiasm here on the disboards!! we get it!

Thanx everyone, I am on here now more then Facebook and posting more then I ever expected.

Tell them that WDW and DLR are HORRIBLE places they never should visit, then book solo trips and trips with your girlfriends :thumbsup2

I know I'm excited for you and they will love the SSR experience...I can't imagine staying off property now....(bleh)

MMM from parks to drink in hand by the pool in 45 minutes.....love it!!

Yippee for all of you!! I guarantee, you are expecting allot, they not much. Who will leave with that great feeling them, you, maybe disappointed because you know how great the vacay was and no one gave you kudos!!! Relax, enjoy and you know what a deal your family is really getting!!!:lovestruc

No worries...you are not alone in your excitement! I've been a DVC owner since 1996 and have 600 points so I go to Disney plenty....but I never get enough! I have a big group coming in December and at first didn't include the 22 year old DS as he just graduated from college and started working full time so I assumed he would be working. I mentioned to him so he knew he was included and he was ALL IN!!! He was missing his Disney fix too even though we were all just there in July. Disney Fever....when you get it, you get it bad....but it is soooo good!

Have a great trip....but have even more fun planning!

Marie

:thumbsup2:thumbsup2 So true! So true! Thank goodness for this board!!!

:thumbsup2 You know you are a Disser when you refer to Todd, your DH as "DH". He just looks at me :sad2:when I accidentally talk in DIS code. It becomes an addiction. I do not Facebook or Twitter--just DIS. But at least I do not have as many posts as Robo. :worship: The guru of all things DIS.

Don't worry I won't tell anyone you are a freak like me...:cool2:

DVC also creates resort snobs and DH is proof of that--we always did values before DVC and now he just looks at me when I talk about saving points and heading to Pop.

DH always tells me that the kids' (and his) level of excitement will never match mine during the planning stages. Buzz kills. :rotfl: They all get pretty stoked about a week before the trip and thank me profusely during.

brought family and friends together at Disney and shared the magic of OKW with them (most recently at your wedding) and the infection is spreading. Now my wifes youngest daughter talks about coming back and bringing her 6 month old sone. My wife wants us to buy more points so thney can come....there goes my peace and quiet!

You will find that most people just won't get as excited as you will. Usually it seems most obsessed families have one planner/obsesser and the others just get excited before and during the trip. My wife will talk about it, be fine discussing ADR's or such, but doesn't want to sit around and talk plans months before the trip. So, I do my spreadsheets with the basic sketch and send it to her a few weeks before the trip and she is good with that.

Especially with your other relatives, they just don't really know what to be excited about and you are most likely just talking "greek" to them. They are excited to go to Disney, but probably think it is all over kill.

Thanx again everyon. I have to say a few years ago before my DD and DVC, I "ended up in WDW" two times in one year. The first time w/my BFF and her DD and the second w/my whole family of 15. After the second trip, I was saying" twice in one year was WAYYYY to much". My BFF's DD would say when are we going swimming while we we at the parks. I wanted to beat her with a magic wand.We were staying off property so the pools were not that great. And the second were we staying at grandma's 1 1/2 hrs away.

I really think a huge part of the magic is staying on property and being next to the GREAT pools 45 min. after leaving the park. Not driving home. I know my family (DB) has no idea the experience staying on property. I love being at the hotels as much as the parks.

My BFF just told me she might be able to come with us for spring break 2012 if we don't plan on going to the parks. So more obsessing to continue??

I enjoy planning every trip I plan, every ADR I make (most usually 6 to 7 months in advance) and then I wait with anticipation mounting till it's time to pack! It doesn't matter who we take with us, I'm still the biggest Disney nut! I guess we're a breed apart! :earsgirl:

No matter, you"ll have great fun together, check ou the new pool at the Paddock area, I hear it's going to be pretty cool!

you have described how my DH 'used' to be...now, i find he brings up the subject of vacations.:woohoo:Pre-DVC it used to be it was hard to get him to take 1, let alone several trips a year, he works so hard. Now he's the one asking if we have enough points for just one more trip each year:laughing:.

Some people actually find the whole planning (overplanning of which i am guilty) to be stressful and avoid it. Glad the boards here to share the journey for those of us who thrive on it.:thumbsup2
