Hi -

We will be staying at SSR for the first time in April during Easter Break. :cool1: I have a few questions for anyone who can help -

1) We will be arriving very late - probably around midnight. Should I worry that I will get a less desireable location because all the "good" rooms have been taken by parties arriving earlier in the day ? I was hoping the get the Paddocks area to be close to DTD ... should I request this or are rooms being given first come, first served ? I'm sure no area is really undesireable, I was just hoping to get as close to DTD as possible as we will have Grandma and my Uncle with us.

2) Which part of DTD is closest to the Paddocks area when you walk? I've been looking for a map that has SSR and DTD on it to get my bearings, but haven't come up with anything so far.

3) Any recommendations on spa treatments ... Grandma and I would like to make a visit to the spa !

Thanks ! :thumbsup2

Hey there - enjoy your trip!

I have had good luck making requests and having them fulfilled when I check in. I can say that I have not checked in late, however, so maybe that helped me.... When you do make requests they are very careful to note that "your requests have been noted, but are not guaranteed."

The Paddock area is closest to the Marketplace end of DTD. If you are in the last building of The Paddock (at the bottom of The Paddock section if you are looking at a resort map) you will be a 5 - 10 minute walk to The Marketplace. That works very well if you need to take a bus to another resort as the DTD bus stop is right there.

You may want to request Congress Park as a second choice if you want to be close to DTD. We were in the very last CP building last month and were only 5 minutes from DTD!

Haven't been to the Spa, so can't help you there...

Happy planning!

I would request Congress Park as it is closer to Downtown Disney. The walking path to Downtown comes out around the Rainforest Cafe. If you do not get your request you can always take the boat to Downtown Disney.

You can also take the golf course path that leads behind the Carriage House (check in bldg) and that path will take you to the WestSide (Cirque, Disney Quest) portion of DTD.

There is a boat dock on that side and if you walk to the PI bridge the busses are there in the parking area.

So if the new Area, the Grandstand is open, that is not necessarily a bad spot, because it will be close to the WestSide path and Boat dock, Main Bldg.

If you get Paddock or Congress Park, The Marketplace path will be closest.

You can split the difference depending on what Springs or Carousel bldg you get.

For this reason, I dont think you have a tremendous amount to worry about.

The Spa is wonderful and I would recommend the Pedicure ($52) and I love the smell of the Mystical Forest products they use.
I have a flyer for DVC Pricing and April 1 they offer a new package SPRINGTIME RENEWAL SPA PACKAGE-Herbal Body Polish & 50 min Swedish massage, Mystical Forest Body Masque & Wrap ($245) 407-827-4455

We just returned from a stay in the Paddocks--we were about a 10 minute walk to DD Marketplace. As someone else said, Congress Park is closer to that end of DD. We checked in at 9:30 a.m. and got a great room--you never know. I'm guessing nobody stayed there the night before since it was clean and ready to go. I have had the spa manicure there twice--very relaxing and nice. Some people were having the paraffin (foot) treatment in the same room as me and said it felt like heaven. DVC does get a discount on some of the things.

Thank you all for your replies !

Congress Park is closer ... see, glad I asked the experts ! ;) I will make a request through MS and see what happens.

The parafin foot treatment sound wonderful! Must feel really nice on tired, sore WDW feet. :goodvibes

I use this ite for maps. I stayed at the Springs just before Congress in Dec when I was there and it was a nice location. Great walk to DTD and the bus stop is one of the first stops..and drops. The closer you get to the Main bus and the Paddock stop the more crowded the bus is and more likely to stand..at least that is how is was when we were there.
