Hi everyone, long time reader, first time poster here!

I've been to the World many, many times with family and sometimes friends and I've always loved it. Unfortunately, in the last few years nobody has wanted to go with me and it's starting to make me really miss the magic. I've never been much of a solo traveler, but I'm considering it for the chance to go again. Right now, mid-September of this year is looking pretty good fora solo 5 day excursion, staying at the Pop, but I'm really concerned I'm going to end up frustrated and lonely with no one around. I've read all the oft cited benefits to solotravel, including freedom and not needing to conform to other peoples plans, but is that really worth the lack of a companion?

I'm a design engineer, mid-20s and I don't mind doing things myself, I often enjoy things myself, but given the option I'll almost universally prefer a companion or two on my adventures.

I'm also wondering how easy is it to find other solo travelers and make friends in the World? Is it likely I can find willing companions once I arrive? Perhaps someone in the same boat as me!

Alright, talk me in to it :)

I will be staying at Pop from Sept 15-22nd. It might be my first solo trip. I am still not sure if a family member will be going or not. At first I thought it was going to be solo but now a family member might work it out to come.

I was not sure about going myself but I really wanted a break since I have scheduled a two week break from school and just really want to get away from everything. Then reading all the thoughts of people on here about going solo made me look forward to it. Still a little apprehensive about some things but I also look forward to doing what I want and when I want with nobody to bother me. Now I'm actually kind of not wanting anyone to go with me! Of course I'm not 100% sure I will even get to go as car repairs might take my money away and keep me from going.

I'm taking my first solo trip - and my first trip EVER - the first week of September! I got tired of waiting for someone to go with me, so I'm just going.

I don't think I'll be lonely or bored at all. I'm only staying 3 full days, so I figure there will be PLENTY to do. I'm staying at the Boardwalk, so there will be plenty of nightlife. (I don't know the ins and outs of the resorts, obviously, but it does seem like there's more "adult stuff" there.)

Personally, I'm excited to do whatever I want and not be tied to anyone else's wants!

really think you will be fine.

but if alone worries you then schedule or join a Dis meet.

the singles at Disney (who live and work there) might show up for it. So you can meet lots of others who love Disney instead of family or friends who want to know why you are going back there....:rotfl2:

I went solo for the first time last year and I have to say I loved it. I was apprehensive as well, but I just enjoyed sitting and reading on my deck and then walking through all the parks (it was around Christmas) seeing the decorations. I also spent an afternoon in the Grand Floridian sipping coffee listening to the music. As for meals, I did more quick service then sit down, but it is really, really nice to treat yourself to a nice meal.

I also rode rides and could get on faster because I was solo. Honestly, no one pays that much attention and you can always strike up conversations with people.

I treated myself to a performance of Cirque du Soleil and sat by some lovely people who talked my ear off... :goodvibes

Have fun and enjoy!
