I've heard similar things about Sci-Fi and their food. We really want to try it next time so burgers it shall be! Sorry your waiter was less than helpful though. That's so frustrating especially since the dining plan is supposed to make things easier.

Sorry that Sci-Fi didn't work out so well. I really wanted to try it because of the atmosphere not really because of the food. Now I'm not so sure. I'm really enjoying your trip report so far and can't wait for the next installment. So glad that everything went well with your home inspections.

Sounds like Sci-Fi was a good experience, even with a bad waiter. We ate there in '97 and had a really fun time, but I am not sure we'd go back. We've sort-of "done that". I don't remember having issues with the food, but there wasn't (weren't? - what's the correct grammar here?) so much internet, forums, food reviews, etc. back then, and I honestly don't think I was as into the quality of the food. So it didn't matter much to us.

I am so loving following your trip. We are just over 40 days away!

Great update! The cop at Sci-Fi was hilarious. Sorry the waiter wasn't all that great, or the food, but it did bring back memories of when I went there when I was 10. I remember nothing about the food other than that I had popcorn. I was more occupied with sitting in a "car" and watching movies.

Sorry about David's kidney stone. I had one last year and ended up in the ER as well. NO FUN! Hope he is feeling better!

And it does sound the Backlot Tour has deteriorated. I haven't been on it in years and it seems you rarely see it in trip reports. Thanks for sharing that it isn't all that great anymore.

I think the atmosphere at sci-fi is great like you said, but the food doesn't make for such a great deal on the DDP unless you are deluxe....it seems like it fits in a category called "table counter service" its between counter service and table service sort of like the plaza!
