we will be at DLR the week of September 13th. Our first park day is that Monday. DD3 and myself haven't ever been and DH and MIL haven't been in 20 years. We are staying at DLH so we could get EMH on Monday at DCA but we sort of think it would be neat for our first park experience walking into Mainstreet DLR. The regular park opening time is going to be at 10:00, so pretty late in the morning. Do we take advantage of the extra hour at DCA or wait for the real thing? What say ye?

I understand what you are saying about the first park experience being the walk down Main Street. I like to walk down Main Street on the first day of a trip, and after that just take monorail from Downtown Disney to Tomorrowland.

If you are interested in Radiator Springs Racers, I would do the EMH at DCA and go straight there. Otherwise, Main Street at Rope Drop is the way I would do it. And you can just get the fastpass for RSR later.

We always start our trip at DL. There's just something magical when you come out from under the train tracks in DL and are completely immersed in all the fantasy in the park that Walt built.

I would not give up EE at CA. That is the biggest perk of staying on property to me. Yes, walking up Mainstreet is amazing and so magical, but you will get to do that. You are not giving up that experience to go to EE at CA, but you are giving up EE if you go to DL first. CA is wonderful also and I'm sure you will enjoy both parks!!

If you will be there a few days, maybe just skip early entry for the first day in favor of Main Street USA.

Have fun planning!

How many days are you going, and what time do you arrive on the 13th?

Two years ago, my family and I had planned on spending 4 days in the parks, but we arrived early afternoon on the day before. I went ahead and sprang for 5 day tickets so we could go to DL on our first day, and then did EE at DCA the next day.

My wife and I always start in DL, we love to start a trip in the Happiest Place on Earth...However, we are biased against EE because we like to sleep in ;)

We are arriving at the hotel around 2:00 pm I think on Sunday. We will take an easy day of browsing DTD and swimming at the DLH pool. We have 5 day hoppers and an extra beach day so we will have plenty of time. I think we will start with DL on Monday morning. Thanks for the input everyone!

Coincidentally I will be checking into the DLH on the same day and hitting the parks on Sept. 14. I had originally planned on just doing Disneyland ( only have one day to spend in Anaheim as I fly out Tuesday) but ended up deciding to take advantage of the extra hour.

Have fun, and you'll probably see my family at the pool that Sunday afternoon!!
