We're going the end of March.... we're all feeling a bit guilty NOT taking the kids, even though we all just took them together last November (and we're all going back together again in October)!

We plan to do things that our kids wouldn't necessarily be into... like a leisurely breakfast beside the pool at Poly with Tonga toast and coffee, resort hopping to sightsee, West Side, etc.!

There are four of us. All of us full time Mom's and truly deserve some girlfriend time! One of my GF's and I plan to make T-shirts to surprise the other two. We made a bunch for our kids on the last trip, now it's our turn! We're going to put a polka dot Mickey head on front and iron-on the back in Walt's font: "Where's my kids? . . . Oh ya, I left them home!" We figured we ought to have some fun with those.

I'm looking for some other kind of surprise I can do for all three of them. Any suggestions?

Got to say, it's fun to visit this section of the board for the first time!!

I don't know how wacky you are - you ladies seem like you are a lot of fun :p - but last time we went to Disney my sisters, my mom, my aunt, my cousin (ranging in age from 20 to 58) and I all got Mickey ears to wear the entire week around the parks. We didn't just go out and buy them, though, we waited until we found one that was "us". I got the leopard print ones, my sister got Sorcerer Mickey, my other sister got Minnie, my mom got a different Minnie etc. It was easy to find each other in a crowd and it was great fun finding the ears and wearing them!

We also took fun pictures wherever we were. Especially around the world in Epcot. In every country one or more of us found something to do with the country and took a picture. For example, in Germany there is a picture of me with a traditional German hat and I'm holding a toy sword pointed towards the camera. In Norway there is a picture of my sister holding the big troll's hand looking like she is dancing with him. In England, we all tried to squeeze into the phone booth to take a picture :rotfl:. That was interesting as we all didn't fit. In MGM, my Mom is hugging the huge coke bottle that sprays water because she LOVES coke. Two years later we still love to look at the pictures and remember the story behind each one.

Just some inexpensive ideas to have a great time on your trip!

I love the hidden mickey's idea at AK and WL as I hope to visit both for the first time this trip. It will be fun to find some to show to the kids next time we take them, too! I don't know about a tour this trip (we are going budget), but that is a definite on my list for our adult only trips to come!

Great idea about the pictures around Epcot. I will have my camera ready for lots of pictures, even though I won't have my kids.

Thank you guys for the ideas! I'd love more if anyone has any!

My best friend (since the 7th grade) and I took a girls only trip. We wanted to have some time for us before she started her family! I had 2 kids at that time (3 now) and left them at home. We had a wonderful time. We could shop when we wanted with out kids or husbands! We went to Pleasure Island one night. I love the Comedy club and the adventures club.

take lots of photos and have fun.

I'd love to see a photo of your shirts when you make them. That sounds so cute!

There are a group of 6 moms going in November. We all have children born in end of June/July 2003 and we aren't taking ANY kids! I love the idea of the Mickey ears! We were talking about doing shirts..all different colours of course that says " What happens in Disney..stays in Disney" . I like the tour idea.

Question about Pleasure Island..Do you think it's ok for a group of women in their 30's to go? LOL I'd love to go dancing but not if it's going to be a bunch of teenyboppers. Need a place that makes good slushy Margaritas:)

We are currently starting to plan a girls only trip for next spring. There are about 6 of us that are turning 40 between this coming June and the following June. Two of us are huge WDW fans, I'm hoping we can convince the others that WDW would be a blast. I'm looking forward to a trip with no kids or husbands.

Steph

What an awesome idea! My sisters and I spent a long weekend at WDW last October and had an awesome time.

We are going in a few weeks! Just four moms and we can't wait. We are planning dinner at California Grill, Keys the Kingdom tour, Jelly Rolls piano bar (highly recommend this one), the adventures club, and a whole bunch of roller coasters. I like your hat idea!

One of the girls thinks we may get some dirty looks with our "Where's my kids? Oh, ya, I left them at home!" T-shirts. They won't know that the kids were there last November and will be there this October! We think we may do a "What happens at Disney stays at Disney!" T-shirt instead.

We did order a special commemorative gift for the four of us (only two of us are in on it). We got custom bangles etched with this quote... "Laughter is timeless, Imagination has no age, Dreams are forever-Tinkerbell 3/08" (The 3/08 to mark the date of the trip.) I canNOT wait to give it to our other two friends. It's going to be very special.

We've also decided that suggestion of all of us getting specialty ears to match our personalities may make our agenda! (I'm not sure if I am tiara ears or pink leopard ears!)

When will you guys be there? We go in 5 weeks, 2 days, 11 hours and 28 minutes... but not that I am counting or anything!

First I love your first T shirt idea. If you want to do that design, I would go for it.

Second, I really love your second tshirt idea. I may just have to borrow this idea sometime. :rolleyes1

When I went with my friends on a mom's only trip we did the spa one day for massages. So relaxing and fun.

The best thing we did, though, was the Segway Around the World tour. What a blast! I think your group would love it!

We also ate at California Grill one night. Nice without kids!

Have a great trip! I'm hoping celebrate my 40th with another girls' trip to Disney. (and maybe one with DH and my boys! ;) )

Well, so much for a girls only 40th birthday trip, now the boy's are whinning that they can't come along. So now I believe it will be a couples only trip. At least the kids are still staying home. :cool1:

Firstly, I LOVE your name, 'OhanaMama! When I noticed your name, I then noticed your quote, "I'm too excited to sleep...".... I LOVE IT~~

I have been desperately trying to find the old Disney ad where it shows Walt asleep in his bed and the mess of a bedroom that he has with cartoon mice drawn on paper laying all over the floor. Do you remember that old ad, too?

Our foursome gets two rooms at POFQ (with connecting door) every year in September--week after labor day. In 2006 we all got the gold ears for Disneyland's 50th anniversary, and someone called us the Golden Girls! It was actually a really good way to find each other. And it's always NO children, NO husbands!
One thing we've discovered is that we do TS dinner late afternoon (4-5PM) and share entrees. This gives us a break to reenergize for the evening, Illuminations or Phantasmic, etc. And if it's really hot, it's a way to get into the A/C.
Enjoy!

Why, thank you for all the compliments! :wave2:

I do remember that ad. And yes, that does make me old? I don't know where you can find it. I'm not that saavy at those sort of things. :badpc:
