We thought we would need to sleep late, but we were getting accustomed to the pace of our lives at WDW -- busy. My daughter woke up about 1 hour earlier than we thought she would given the late night of MK fireworks and parade.
We had worked out with Len three plans in case we needed to sleep late. One plan, the ideal, which was getting to the park 1/2 hour before opening time. One where we arrive 1/2 after opening time, and another where we arrive 1 hour after opening time.
We ate our pop-tarts in our room, took a boat to MGM (what a way to travel!), and got to the parks 30 hour before opening without even trying. We had already decided what we would omit, if necessary, in case of disorientation, bathroom stops, etc.
We went to MGM and FP Voyage of the Little Mermaid for the first showing 9:45. We went over to the Great Movie Ride -- it was 9:15 meanwhile. There was hardly a wait there and we inquired to check on the timing while we were in line. The ride was very fun. My daughter got a little freaked when the Alien stuff oozed from the ceiling. I had forewarned her about the wicked witch's presence. When we got there, it was not too bad. We raced over to the Mermaid and had an easy time using our first FP. We all enjoyed the show. It was very fanciful.
We hiked over to Playhouse Disney Live. My daughter enjoyed the streamers, primarily. She did have a fun time. We were making our way toward MuppetVision 3D, stopping off at the ABC Commissary around 11:30 a.m. There was no crowd and the food was not that good, but it sated our hunger. We went to see the MuppetVision 3D. The movie was about 2 minutes from starting. There were only 3 pairs of the glasses left, in fact. I love the Muppets. We all enjoyed their silliness and the 3-D play. When we were heading over to the Honey I Shrunk the Kids play set, my daughter noticed a hairwrapping stand. One of the subtexts of our last three days had been seeking and missing such a stand. So, we put her name on the waiting list per her selection given her souvenir money. We hiked over to the playset and she played about 10 minutes before we had to return to the stand to check on her turn. We all decided to just hang by the stand while we waited. After about 15 minutes, she had her turn. She loved and still loves that hairwrap.
After this, we wondered over to the area for Beauty and the Beast. My husband did not have many opportunities to explore the scarier rides and thrills given our family selections during this trip. Since we had gained much confidence negotiating the map, the touring plan and times, I suggested he try the Tower of Terror while my daughter and I went to Beauty and the Beast. We got refreshments and waited for the next show, with the theater opening in abou 15 minutes and then waited inside for the show. My daughter could not see over a tall man in the row ahead of us, so she sat on my lap for the entire hour. (When did she get to be so big?) She and I enjoyed the spectacle of this show and she mentioned how, next year, she hoped we would see Beauty and the Beast on Broadway (we live in the burbs of NYC).
In the middle of the show, rain came. I am fortunate to have a weather enthuiast as a husband. I knew this was coming and brought our rain ponchos into the theater. When we came out, the rain had already subsided. My husband claimed that the Tower of Terror was a little frightening. He saw the picture of his group and he was the only one with his eyes shut. He claimed a lot of guys were laughing. He thought they were playing macho. Even though our daughter was the acceptable height for this one, he was glad she did not go on it. While we were talking the clouds were gathering and the rain started up again. My husband reported that there would be rain, but thought we might be able to continue enjoying our time in the park. Our daughter knew her limit (FINALLY) and said that she wanted to go to the hotel room, get out of the rain and relax. She had in mind to purchase a Bambi stuffed animal. So, we purchased that at a kiosk and made it over to the boat. We watched a beautiful bird, the kind of which we did not know. Then, the boat came. We loved having some down time. During this time, my husband and I reviewed our evening plans and tomorrow's Epcot plans while my daughter played with all the animals -- Mickey, Dumbo, Bambi -- the three finger puppets of Mickey, Donald, and Goofy.
We left via taxi around 4:30 for 'Ohana. We got there about 20 minutes early. We asked for a window view in the main room. They seated us. The seats were not directly at the window, as we had hoped, but one row away. We noticed that the seats, with one exception were not suited for 3 people at that time, so we just enjoyed what we had. It was raining a lot. In fact, we later learned that the dinner show had been cancelled due to rain. There were hoards of people in the halls and lobbies. Apparently, a convention had selected the dinner show which was cancelled. We purchased some t-shirts for our family, made a special request at Guest Services for leis for our daughter. The staff member gave one for each of us. It was a little magical to get one when we were doubtful even the 5 y.o would receive one. We hailed a taxi in the rain and got to the hotel about 8:15 -8:30 pm.
My daughter loved the coconut races. Even more, she enjoyed the hula hooping. My husband got a fancy drink as did my daughter. We have a pail and a wooden totem type face cupholder as souvenirs as a result. We ate too much. We really enjoyed it. It's a definite sure hit for families.
We went to sleep thinking about rain, good food and exploring the rest of Epcot on the next day.
