First Face Transplant to take place(weak stomachs...don't read)

WOW, that is amazing if they can do this!

How cool is that? That would change that poor girl's life. What a wonderful gift.

How freaky!

Imagine for anyone who knows the donor and later sees the recipient walking around with this face.

Wow! How strange!!! I wonder though, just how much the new face would actually look like the deceased person. Would the difference in the underlying bone structure actually give an entirely new look to the face or would it actually look the same?

How wonderful for this young woman!

Did anyone see Face/Off with John Travolta and Nicolas Cage...?

Wendy, I was thinking the same thing.

I just don't know how I feel about this. It would be nice for the girl to have a chance to get rid of the burns, but to add a face of a doner? I just don't know. I wonder how the psychological effects would be on her. I pray that if they do it, there aren't problems in surgery or after with infections. That would be horrific as well.

I remember that movie Face Off.

I wonder how the family of the donor feel about it? Obviously, they've given the go ahead, just like any organ donation...but the thought of having someone walking around looking like my lost love one...I just don't know.

Maybe it's only the skin of the face that is being used...and the burn patient's bone structure will become evident.

I love Modern Medical Tecnology!;) Hey, if it can be done in a movie, it can be done in REAL LIFE!;)

My guess would be that unless the bone structure was similar the face would look more like the recipient than the donor. I would think that it would be more like a huge skin graft than actually getting a new face. It would just get rid of most of the scars.

That is amazing. Bless that young woman, I hope the surgery is successful for her.

What a wonderful gift to this young woman!

My cousin had a pot of boiling water fall over on her arm when she was 2 y/o & her arm is just horrible to look at. She never had any grafting done. She just has grown accustomed to it & wears long sleeves as much as possible. Imagine this poor girls face!

Again, what a wonderful gift!

A burn is such an awful injury. Burn victims deserve any break they can get. I hope it works out for her.

Wow, that is amazing! I really hope this works out for her...it will totally change her life.:D
