i just finished listening to a podcast where they talked about their first disney experiences and why those experiences drew them back again and again.. i thought we could post our first disney experiences here

heres mine:
it was two years ago last April.. myself and my 10 other relatives were suprised with a WDW vacation for easter vacation.. my grandparents were paying for the trip and this was a very spontaneous descison.. the reservaions were made two weeks before we would go during one of the busest times in disney all year.. that was a miracle in and of itself. something that struck me that set disney apart from any other theme park was that you could tell that a lot of blood sweat and tears wen into making this dream come true.. in no other park do you see the founder(s) holding hands with their most famos icon.. that was my first though as i entered the magic kingdom..
two other things i'll never forget.. on our way to pirates of the caribbean i got lost cause i ran into the bathroom (between frontierland and advetureland.. that little covered area with the bathroom on one side and a souvenir shop on the other).. anyway i stupidly ran into the bathroom without telling anyone and when i came out.. none of my other 10 family members were there.. luckily i was found quite quickly thanks to walkie talkies and a large amount of family members to split up and look for me..

my last story takes place in downtown disney.. my step mother was saying that she'll give a dollar to anone who could run across the fountain before it sprayed water.. of course this was aimed at us kids who obviously at night did not want to get wet.. next thing we know my dad takes off running across the fountain (not many people there yet) and well he made it.. certainly surprised us all to see that anyone can be a kid in disney :)

I think I was about four and remember being hot and wanting to go home. And least I'm honest ;).

Edit: 1000th post! Go me!

hey boom your thousand post;)

i don't remember mine, i was 18 months...We do have videos of it, and when i visited mickey and minnie they wanted to take me away, they were going to kidnap me! Of course, they couldn't.

We both have post averages of 2.16p/d, lol.

that reminds me that i made 100 posts.. three posts ago and forgot to announce it.. i joined this past monday.. is that a record?.. lol :offtopic:

My first trip was when I was in the 6th Grade it was 1978. Disney still used individual tickets for each ride, rides took different amounts. I remember the Mickey phones and how badly I wanted one for our house. Space Mountain was my favorite. The hotel we stayed at was the Dutch In, it was in the Downtown Disney area and the pool was shaped like a windmill.

I remember the Matel store and wanting all of the Barbies and I remember a little box covered with shells that I got as souvenier that I had for years.

I didn't go back until 1991 and then I started to go all the time after my daughter was born in 2000.

My father worked at WDW before I was even born so I was too young to remember the first time I was there when they had hard tickets and so on. Ironically enough, my first memory is not a happy one really. I was forced to ride pirates and I was terrified. I made quite a spectacle and kicked my father with my pretty patent leather shoes through the entire ride. They talk about it to this day.

Many, many happy memories were to follow though. My family was fairly poor and despite living in Fl going to WDW continued to be a once every several years event that I looked forward to for weeks and weeks. My earliest souvenir memory was a yellow plastic snow white vanity set with a mirror, brush, and comb. It made me so happy.

Now that I have a son of my own who is already spoiled with his own annual pass I hope to offer him many memories to come.

to tell you the truth i was scared on my first time of pirates as well.. i had hardly done any research on the reides before we went and i was terrified not because of the skeletons but cause i had no idea what would come next.. but i have since then conquered my fear and enjoy pirates like everyone else
