Hi guys!

Well, I am done my first Disney Cruise Scrapbook! Yayyyy....took me awhile whew! I have so many pictures so I decided to split it into two albums. Just started my second one yesterday.

So, I have posted it on my site....follow link below and then click on Scrapbooking.

While I had the digital camera, I also took some pics of my work area...so I also posted those on the site.

WARNING: It takes a bit to load my site....TONS of pics....

Enjoy!

Cass, you are a natural! I've told you before that I love your albums & that your style had improved. (That's a compliment.) But I didn't think you could get even better. AND YOU DID!!

This belong in a magazine. Or a least in a Disney cruise brochure. The pictures are wonderful too!!!

Please finish mine for me. Out of curousity, how long does it take you to do a 2 page spread. Planning it is the part that takes me an excrutiating long time. Maybe I need to get off the computer more & just go scrap! LOL

I just had a chance to look at your album, you should be very proud-- it is fantasitic!! You certainly have a knack for scrapping!!

Thank you so much for your wonderful replies! I love to share it with fellow scrappers cus you all know just how much time and detail goes into an album.

SplshMtn99,

It takes me hmmmm....maybe 1-3 hours for a 2 page layout? I guess it all depends on what I do with it really...some are real quick...less than an hour and some take 3+ hours. It also does depend on my state of mind at the time :)

Sometimes I know exactly what I want to do for a certain page...it usually comes to me when I go to bed  It takes me about 2+ hours to fall asleep most nights so if I've been scrapping that day, I will think of how to do my next layout. So then, it's just a matter of actually bringing that idea to life.

Then there are times (this is the norm) when I look at my pictures for my next layout and something just comes to me...like my Hercules layout....I was looking at the background and saw the columns and decided to make colums around the pics.

Then (although rarely) sometimes I look at my pics and draw complete blanks! Sometimes I will just start cutting something and things just evolve and then glue stuff and voila...I have a page. This process, however, turns out my least favourite pages....like the Character Breakfast page...I think that's my least fave and that is how I began that page.

If I use my computer for the title (and I already have a general idea in my head) I can do a page in less than an hour easy. If I do it by hand and have lots of cutting or bending or glueing to do then I could take 3 hours to do a layout.

Because of my arthritis, I can only do about 2 layouts per day, which is probably a blessing cus if I didn't have pain to stop me, I could scrap all day long LOL.....laundry, dishes, chores would pile up and my husband would never see me :D

I am actually so excited to get my vacation album finished and start scrappin my life! I have 6 years (since I met hubby) that I am aching to turn into albums!

I am sending you some positive, creative energy so you can finish your album! ;)

Cass, I kind of work the same way. I look at my pictures for next layout. Look thru my supplies. Look thru some idea places. Then go to bed thinking about it all. Think about it driving to work & while at lunch. Then try to put it all together next time I get to scrap. My problem is I don't make myself sit down & scrap. I always end up on the computer talking about scrapping one place or another. It takes me about the same amount of time that it takes you then I guess. I just don't do it every day or every week for that matter. :(

Sometimes my layout changes a bit from what I planned too. I tend to plan to put too much on it & while doing it, I leave some off. I use 8.5 x 11 & I do get ALOT on there. LOL

Too bad we didn't live closer. You could be my scrapping motivator. :) LOL
Would love to see you on here more often - but now we know you are off scrapping. :)

Your pages inspired me! I have my spring break 2001 Magic cruise photos that are calling to me. Thanks for sharing. I may borrow a few ideas. You are very creative. Keep sharing with us, please. :)

Very nice album! Please tell me how you did all your letters? Trace and cut? not all of them are stickers! The sunset ones are great! Do you have a tool?
Every time I see a new album I think oh I got to try that or keep that in mind!
Thanks for sharing!

Thanks for the replies!

All the big characters are postcards that I got in Mickeys Mates aboard the ship.

Some of the lettering is done by tracing with my letter templates but most are done by computer. None are stickers. I use Word for almost all my titles..I just really like the way it looks and gives me more room for creativity. For a few of the journaling shapes, I used CK Creative Lettering program. They have these cool little journal genies that you can make your text fit into shapes (like the leaf and the clam shell). There is also some fonts on the CK CD that I have used, such as the sunset one....then I used chalks to colour it in.

I am one of those who HATE their handwriting so I just LOVE the way the computer makes it look so sharp. I bought blank acid & lignin free white paper which I use often or sometimes I use coloured cardstock right in the printer, depending on what kind of look I want.

Did I answer everything? Hope so....if you have more questions, just post them!

SplshMtn99,

I know what you mean....I don't scrap everyday either...sometimes I will go a week without even stepping in my room. I guess we all need a break from those creative juices or they will run dry HAHAHAH! Oh and btw...I spend WAY too much time on the puter!!! I guess I just don't post as much as I could LOL...shyness I guess! I've been on these boards for a LONG time...when there was just one huge thread index....and it took me like a whole year before I posted anything! Pathetic huh?

First, let me add my oohs and aahs about your layouts - particularly the Cruise ones. I am still "planning" my Cruise pages and you have gotten me inspired.

I have the CK lettering CDs and have played with them a little but would love to know a tad more about how you used them and the fonts from MS Word.

When you have colored lettering on white backgrounds, like the Parrot Cay, All Aboard, Docking in St. Maarten and Character Breakfast layouts - are those done with a colored printer, or do you just print those out in black and white and then color with chalk, markers, etc?

When you are using colored paper, do you do those the same way? I love the lettering blocks on your Formal Night layouts (and what nice pictures!) and the Beat Street one. Another one I can't figure out is the Hanging Out at the Terminal lettering. How did you get that pretty green lettering on the colored paper?

You mentioned that the sunset layout lettering was chalked. Did you just print it out in black ink on the colored paper and chalk on that, then crop it and mat it?

I'm not a new scrapbooker, but haven't explored the fonts and CDs very much yet.

Thanks for sharing these gorgeous layouts and thanks for teaching us!

Hi Cass

I have had to de-lurk to tell you how fantastic I think your Scrapbooks are! They are pretty amazing and I wanted to thank you for letting me share them with you :)

Although I am a moderator on the UK boards, I have only been a lurker here as I am a complete newbie and novice at Scrapbooking. Scrapbooking is relatively new here in the UK, and I have been ably assited with my questions by Bev and Lisa. I have completed a few pages, and am having so much fun right now with my new hobby ~ I have certainly picked up a lot of tips from looking through your pages :)

You are obviously very talented and I just had to thank you.

:D

Cass,
I just finished looking at you albums. It was really exciting to see your style develop over the pages.

Your crop room looks like a dream to work in.

Thanks for sharing,
chessie

Well, first I have to say what a bunch of wonderful and friendly people on this board! I think I am gonna have to visit here more often! ;)

Thanks for all your kind words....I will try to answer some questions...

Most of my titles are done in Word. I use the Word Art feature, pick my font (which by the way, I have spent MANY hours scouring the net to find fonts that would go well in SB's) and then I use the colour option. You can use 2 colours blended together, which I use all the time! or just a single colour or pattern. This gives you TONS of room for creativity...the possibilities are endless! Then usually, I print them out on either my white acid/lignin free paper I bought from Staples or some coloured cardstock. The 8 x 10 cardstock fits right in the printer, or if I just need a little bit done, I cut my paper size then I tape that to a regular piece of paper and then print. This takes a little practice to get it perfect. I DO love the look of printed titles or journaling on coloured cardstock, so I do this often!

There are a few titles, like the sunset layout, that I printed out black and white letters then I coloured or chalked it. I printed that one out on pink cardstock to keep with the colour theming.

Some people absolutely HATE using the printer and only like the handwriting effect...I am NOT one of those people :)

I despise my writing and I just really like the crispness of what a computer and a printer can do!

Keep tinkering and you'll figure out the printer thing!

Great pages Cass.

The lettering is very nice. I really loved the one for the AK parade. Is that one from the computer? Where did you find the font?

janette,

That font is called Jungle Leaves. Not exactly where I picked it up on the net (I visited dozens of font pages) but I am sure if you did a search, you would find it quite easily. If not, I will spend some time and find the exact site for you.

I liked it too! I also used it for my Parrot Cay layout in my cruise album.

Well, off to work on my second cruise album....bout half way done! Yippeeeee :D

Your cruise album is beautiful! I love everything about it :)

The titles and journaling are fantastic. Do you use special ink or paper? I am going to have to buy a color printer now :D
