Finally on to the day by day planning!:cool1: How does our arrival day look? we are DW, me, DD9, DS2

We arrive on Wednesday, Aug 4th at LAX at 9:15 AM.

After picking up our car we are going to drive north to drive through Hollywood - we have young kids who probably wouldn't really care to get out a walk..

Stop for lunch in the Hollywood area (Suggestions for a place would be aweseome!) I was thinking maybe Pinks Chili Dogs??:confused3

Drive down to La Brea tar pits and the museum that goes with it.

After that we'll head to Ayres Inn Orange and check in.

Head to Disneyland for dinner and touring in the evening. My big question is what do you think we can accompish from between 5 and no later than 10 PM? I'd like to see the fireworks and maybe ride somethings in Fantasyland. In addition we just want to sort of get a layout of the park for the next full day.

How fun! Is this a first trip for your family? I would probably just plan on going with the flow that first night. Maybe arrive and do some photopass on the way in. Hop on the train and take a loop around. Ride Small World, and anything else in Fantasyland that doesn't have a huge line.

Do you have dinner plans set for in the park? You could consider Plaza Inn (you will want to arrive early, like by 6:30 or 7, I would think)and eat at an outdoor table, which many have said is a good place to watch the fireworks. After dinner, one of you could stay with the 2 year old and save the table, and the other could take the 8 year old to Buzz Light year (the two year old could go too and give the other parent a moment of peace) and possibly the rocket ride (which is incredibly slow to load so even if the line looks short will take forever, and I am so glad my son has finally out grown that thing!)

Just some ideas, and I am sure you will get more. Hope you have a wonderful trip.

Thanks for the quick reply...Keep 'em coming!

Yes it's our first trip to DLR...We've been to WDW several times.

I noticed on the Disneyland park hours calendar that the parade at DL runs twice - one time is at around 6:30PM. Do you guys think that will hold true for August? It would be perfect to catch the parade and fireworks on our first night there - hopefully it would make lines shorter for some of the attractions when we are there the next full day.

sounds like a good plan, then you can focus on the rides the next day. I like the idea of taking the train around the park and just soaking up the fun.

Ooh...how exciting! I will be there August 2-4 :goodvibes Anyway, the parade usually runs twice during the summer and holidays (or maybe it's true year round?) but whenever I go (during summer and holidays), the parade has always run twice.

I'll also be doing 1.5 days in the LA/Santa Montica area. Pink's Chili Dogs has mixed reviews but I think it'll be a fun place to take the kids. I read about this really cool bundt cake place in Beverly Hills (they frost them like cupcakes) and it's called Kiss My Bundt: http://www.kissmybundt.net/. If you guys are into cupcakes, you could probably drop by for a treat ;)
