First Day Of School (The sobbing has to Stop!)

On my youngest daughter's first day of kindergarten last week the teacher read all the kids and their moms the book "The Kissing Hand". It's about a little racoon who is scared to go to school, so his Mom kisses the palm of his hand so that whenever he needs a kiss from Mom he has it right in the palm of his hand. Then, the teacher has us all kiss our children's hands. The story goes on that on the first day of school the Mommy racoon starts to cry, so the little racoon kisses the palm of her hand so that whenever she needs a kiss she has it right in the palm of her hand. Then, the teacher had all the kids kiss our hands. I was doing fine until then!!! All the Moms got misty eyed.

My daughter's kindergarten teacher read that book too, it is SO sweet! It helped both my daughter and me!

Cheer up sad Mommies - - it gets easier as the years and day and weeks go on... I love fall and this time of year all together.
Sorry ladies, it doesn't always get better as the years go on! I'm living proof! Us saps still cry when our 9th graders head off to school!

And, as my son and I were entering the grocery store this evening, this adorably cute teenager starts madly waving to someone in the parkig lot. My shy son didn't say a thing, and I assumed she was waving at another employee who had walked out of the building. Imagine my shock when she walked over to my son and said teasingly, "Fine, don't say hi to me!" My son then finally said hi to her. Oh my gosh, it's only a matter of time before he starts dating!! Plese, someone, a tissue?????

At least I still have my baby nephew!

I just joined a gym, too, with DH and I picked the one almost right next to DD's preschool. I figured I'd have no excuse not to go! I'll work out with you in spirit!!

Enjoy your kids while they're young. They grow up very, very soon. Take lots and lots of pictures, and don't make excuses to anyone for doing so. Mine are DS 32, and DD almost 31. The years fly by so fast. Remember that no one can take away the memories you make with them today.
