First cruise - not sure about a trip report **UPDATED:link to pictures pg 6 post#79**

Did you know there is a male and female variety of fennel? The male plant is flatter and the female version is rounder and better. I swear I saw this on the food channel. But once more, I digress.

Entertaining and educational as well! :thumbsup2

We were so happy to see a couple of large chipmonks come from the elevator area and proceed in our dicrection. I had my camera at the ready and got a couple of pictures before their handler insisted on taking a picture of the 4 of us.

Okay, I'm only sharing this with all of you because I consider everyone on the cruise boards "friends". When I read that you saw chipmunks coming from the elevator area, my first thought was.... REAL CHIPMUNKS. Live furry scurrying chipmunks and I wondered how they heck they got out to sea! :rotfl2:

Talk about a DUH moment! :sad2: ;) :)

Thank you so much for sharing everything. It is wonderful!

I just found this trip report and have to say that I love it! I am so glad that you both had such a wonderful time!

popcorn:: Loving your trip report. Thanks for deciding to write it!! And keep on digressing--loving those too!!:)

Okay guys, this is it. I'm sure there are things I have forgotten but you get the idea. My primary purpose in writing this report was to show folks you can have a great time at any age. I have registered at photobucket but will have to get my neice to help me. I will try to post some pictures when she shows me how.

I thought I would sign off with
We had a WONDERFUL trip but something has happened that sounds even better.
I just made a deposit on the 7 day Eastern cruise sailing 12/08.

This is really a leap of faith for old folks but it's good to have something great to look forward too.

Thanks again for your time and attention. Maybe we will meet again when I write another report.

:yay: :yay: GOOD FOR YOU!!!!! :cool1: :cool1:

Thanks for your trip report, and have a great time planning your next cruise!

Hi Mary & Glenn
What a wonderful trip report. I am so glad you decided to write one for all of us. My Mother-in-law sailed often with finance till he was 88 years old and they enjoyed every minute of it. My parents are sailing with us this Halloween and I can only hope they enjoy it as much as the both of you did :thumbsup2

Thank you so much :)

Thank you so much for posting your trip report. My husband and I are taking my parents with us on the 15 day Panama Canal cruise next year and we have been very worried about how my dad would handle it.

He's 79 and has had two strokes, has a pacemaker/defibulator and has a hard time getting around. He will absolutely NOT use a wheelchair though because he says that means he's given up.

I'm so sad your TR is over! However......I'm very glad you had such a nice time!! How great that you've booked another cruise - good for you!! Take care of yourselves and thanks again for sharing your story!!:flower3:

Are you sure you don't want to go on the 7 night double dip over Thanksgiving week in 08?:) I'd love to meet you! I enjoyed your trip report and was so excited to see that you rebooked another cruise!

What a wonderful trip report - please keep it coming!!! We are taking our first Disney cruise in October (we are in our early 50's and our son is joining us he is 28). Our son uses a wheelchair so your pointers on this are very much appreciated.

Also, it is GREAT reading a trip report from a couple w/o young children so us old folks know what to do!

You are such an amazing couple!!!!

Gee disneypoor at our age we don't even buy green bananas. But thanks for the invite. I love your screen name. It pretty much describes us too.

tlb2864 - I wish your Dad was more like Glenn. He would rather not use a wheel chair but is willing to use one part of the time so he can go more places and do more things.

CapnJackGroupie - I'm sad my report is over too so I will add one more thing. We will be celebrating our 60th anniversary on the next cruise. Our anniversary will actually be on Christmas Eve but I know it's okay to cheat a little.

To all of you - your comments made us happy or maybe I should say happier. You are all on my "kind and caring" list. Thank you so much.

You are quite a story teller... I am hooked! Finding those caring CM's was not hard to do. They were everywhere.

I was stumped, though, to hear you tipped the CM that assisted you with the wheelchair. I didn't think you could tip seperately from the end of trip envelopes. It didn't even cross my mind. When we ate dinner at a restaurant that was not on our assigned evening, we had a different server who was just incredible (covered my DS plate while he went to the bathroom so his food wouldn't get cold). I didn't leave a tip and feel just awful now. Not to mention the wine server was outstanding - even the head server got involved! I just didn't think outside the box enough to leave a tip on the table! I know for next time, but they must have thought I was a complete dud! :headache:

Keep on with your report! Loving it!

OKraysLoveDisney - welcome to the thread. You were my target audience. Well, you are younger than my target audience but close enough. We didn't use a wheel chair all the time but it was never a problem when we did. You may be surprised at how many couples w/o children cruise Disney. And maybe some with children wish they had left the children at home just this once. We passed a young father pushing his sleeping son in a stroller. The little boy was probably 18 months old. Glenn adores children and said "Ah, the little feller is asleep". The father tilted his head toward heaven and said "Thank God!"

Hope your first cruise is as good as ours.

Iweigard - You shouldn't feel bad at all. We didn't tip when we ate breakfast at Tritons. And that was a really fun meal with Jose, Renato and several other servers. I tipped Renato not because he helped with the wheel chair. He did a special service by showing us all around the 3rd and 4th decks. He spent over an hour with us. I only tipped our assigned server, assistant server, and head server at the end of the cruise. I really don't think you need to leave a tip on the table at any meal. The servers that served you would be tipped by their assigned guests just as you tipped your servers at the end of the cruise. I'm getting myself confused but I am confident you did nothing wrong.

We were on that cruise also, and even had your same dining rotation! I really enjoyed your report, and found it fun to hear the perspective of another generation. We really loved the cruise, and hope that we will still be enjoying vacations 40 years from now! My husband and I enjoyed watching the painters outside Palo also. Funny how little it really takes to entertain us when the food is good, and the sun is shining!

Love your TR, I would love to see some pictures. Very glad you had such a great time and can't wait to read your next TR!!!:goodvibes
