First Cruise More Questions

I would definitely cancel brunch. I finally went to Palo brunch on our recent cruise, our third, and had a very good time with a gal I had met on our cruise group before we sailed, but I didn’t think the food made Palo brunch a “must do”. It was delicous and I would go again, but I would never say it is a must do, especially on a 4nt sailing. I would much rather be on the beach or at a resort pool. Good luck and have so much fun!

The brunch is scheduled for our Nassau day but I could only get an 11:30 slot. We were planning on going to the british colonial hilton beach for that day...We have Palo dinner scheduled for our key west night ( 2nd night of the cruise) at 6:30. The only dinner on the dining rotation I'd want to miss would be lumieres since we can dine there for lunch. If that doesn't line up do you think theres a chance of getting it moved to a different night once on board?
I like both Palo dinner and brunch and think both are worth doing on a cruise of any length. However, I recommend canceling both of your advance Palo reservations. When you board, go to Dining Changes when they open (which is typically around noon). The location of Dining Changes will be in your Navigator.

There, you will be able to schedule a Palo dinner that works with your dining rotation, and you might even be able to get a Palo brunch on a sea day. (You definitely don't want to have it on your Nassau day as currently scheduled, as that would create stress.)

Is that risky? In my experience, no. This way you won't waste any money on an unwanted reservation, and DCL holds back a fair percentage of Palo dining availability to accommodate people who want to make their reservations on the ship (so even if it shows "sold out" online, there are still slots available to book onboard). The brunch on a sea day is the one thing you might not be able to get, but you weren't able to get that in advance, anyway, so there is nothing to lose in that regard. Dinner at Palo has a lot more availability than brunch, so you are very likely to be able to schedule it for the day you're scheduled to repeat an MDR. By the time you board, you'll know which day that is by reading the letters on your KTTW card.

You can also call DCL before your cruise to find out what the dining rotations will be for your cruise and make a request for a specific one. They will tell you that they can’t guarantee you will get it and it’s important for you to understand this to avoid being disappointed, but the odds are good you will get it. We have cruised many times and always ended up with the rotations we had asked for :)
