My son has asked me if he can walk thru First Class to use their lavatory. What do you think?

He was looking at the diagram of the 727 and the first class lav looks bigger. He wants to see it! He thinks it will be very luxurious.

Trust me, it's not. Whether he can use it or not depends on the FA's. Especially in the equipment with larger FC cabins, the FA's will often ask non-FC pax to leave the FC area and use the lav in Coach.

One of the perks of flying FC is not having to wait for the use of the lav. Or at least not in a line.

On my last FC flight, the FA's were allowing non-FC pax to use the FC lav, but not to line up for it. And if a FC pax got up to use it, they would ask the coach pax to return to coach. In other words, if it wasn't being used, it was available to anyone, but if a FC pax needed it, they got first crack at it. And they didn't allow more than one coach pax in FC at a time for it.

I've been on flights in FC where the FA's let anyone up front, there was as long a line for the FC lav as there was for the coach lavs. I've also been on flights where the FA's didn't allow anyone not in FC to use the lav, even though coach was full and FC only had three pax.

When I'm flying coach, I do not use the FC lav. I'm sure others will disagree.

They are the same size. SMALL!

I have not noticed that many Flight Attendants care especially on short flights. As a matter of fact if you are near the front and the cart is in the way they may send you there. However, if you are near the back, you will probably be trapped behind the beverage cart until the end of the flight.

If he really wants to see the FC lav and is unable to see it during the flight, just wait until everyone else deplanes and then when you are leaving the aircraft let the FAs know he wanted to look in there. The FAs may smile, since most kids want to see the Cockpit and not the Lavs, but I am sure they won't mind.

I can assure you that the lavs in front aren't any more luxurious than the ones at the rear of the aircraft in a 727.

Personally..I try to never use the bathroom on a plane. :) And what's the big deal about not using the first class bathrooms? not like they have an attendant in there......

TSI-

Part of paying to fly FC is to have certain amenities available, like not having to wait for a bathroom. That's why many flight attendents will not allow coach pax to come to FC to use the lav there. It seems to vary from FA to FA and carrier to carrier.

they are the very same!! small...small...smalll and very basic! in fact n AA the Lav there was a puddle on the floor...made by a man in coach!

I've flown both coach and FC, and I don't think that there is any difference in the bathrooms. The last flight I was on in July I flew FC and I was surprised that about 3 people from coach walked up to FC and used the lav. When I fly coach I never go up to FC to use the lav, I didn,t think that it was really allowed.:)

it is fine....I have alwyas asked the flight attendebts first though, and they said...that is what they are there for!! I alwys sit in FC...but when I sit in the Balkid....I go to hte bathroom in the front!(again..I alwyaas ask first)...but it has never been a problem!
