Fireworks vs. Candlelight Processional

We are presently planning a trip for New Year's. Right now we are planning on arriving on Dec 30, and I have candlelight processional reservations for lunch and the early show as well as reservations at Kona so that we can watch the trial run of the NYE fireworks at the Magic Kingdom. We are thinking it might be too much on our arrival date. Has anyone seen both? If so which do you think is a more important experience for a 6&11 year old? We are staying at BCV and plan to spend NYE around our resort, maybe peeking into Epcot, but we are not sure.
