ok so we have talked about guns and how we are all happy we cant really get them and thats all good

we have also spoken about how we are understanding of the different culture in USA re: guns and have determined thats all cool as long as they dont shoot me :worship:

but
what i wanna know after watching a movie based in USA is

Can i walk into a shop whilst driving threw USA and purchase some fireworks ?

back when i was a kid you could walk into any milkbar and get them and we had a blast and didnt blow our fingers off or anything

but then they changed it so that only people in Canberra can get them :confused3 and that has always confused me, are canberra people somehow more intelligent than the rest of us ? and if they are more intelligent is that why for a time there they were also the only ones allowed to purchase and watch rudey movies ? :lmao: i mean i wouldnt really know i just read these things in the paper (this was a while ago) :rolleyes1

failing that you can go to chinatown and search for the local backyard illegal fireworks shop (no thanks)

so can you purchase fireworks reasonably easily in the usa and then can you blow them off in some public park ?

i miss fireworks
whilst i realise some kids were being injured and thats why they were banned
thats because they were being stupid with them and all that was really required was some education rather than banning them

also as i was home for new years eve as for some reason i dont have many friends (it just kinda happened, you just wake up one day and realise, your social life beyond your beloved family doesnt really exist) and i was working up until 10pm anyway

let me tell you
if fireworks are illegal in victoria (and they are)
you couldnt tell pirate:

the amount of firecrackers that were blown off in this neighbourhood was in the tons :3dglasses

any help and advice appreciated

Pretty sure they are illegal in Canberra now too.

You know what I dont understand, I was reading a lengthy thread on breastfeeding in public and how offensive it is to many people - nurturing of your baby and exposure of mammaries in a completely natural way :confused3 but it is acceptable to carry firearms :confused3

I know what I would rather my children think is normal.:) and what should be their "constitutional right":rolleyes1

WAYYYY back when I was a kid, we had firework stands that popped up the end of June and ran through July 4th. They sold small fireworks (the bigger ones were illegal to purchase I guess). Now, they are banned where we live (and have been for years) due to being a fire hazard.

I cannot explain breastfeeding ... i really can't. It's ok to wear as little clothing as possible, but if I want to feed my infant son, everyone gets offended? :confused3
There are two gun stores in my very small town and 3 grocery stores (one traffic light!). But what can I say, we are moving ;)

Driving through the mid west USA you will see HUGE billboards for Fireworks stores at the side of the freeway regularly.

I miss fireworks in Oz :sad2:
But I will say they do seem to still go off around new years....

Yep - last June long weekend was the end of fireworks in the ACT - went out with a BANG :rotfl2:
but that's OK cause we now have the legislation going through so that we can have same sex civil unions
we still have the most liberal laws in the country for everything else

why for a time there they were also the only ones allowed to purchase and watch rudey movies ?
we still can! :banana:whilst smoking our personal use marijuana and taking our kids into bars and buying our beers in milk bar soft drink fridges after we've walked the wine aisle at Woolies and hosting the surrogacy parents for dinner.:lmao::rolleyes1

I guess it depends on how many of those happy fingers you are willing to loose. JK.

It's a really tough question to answer.

Fireworks are limited because of personal or public safety in the US.

In some places it's limited by the state, some places by the local government.

Some states require a license. Some don't allow certain types.

Some have certain seasons, or don't allow them because of fire risk.

I found this link which has a great map. However I'm in one of the green "free for all states", but can't have any sort of firework or firecrackers in my county.

We should really ask how many happy fingers HF already has....there used to be places that you do not mention that sold fireworks in Melbourne....all under the counter....and I don't want the police breaking down my door....so enough said.

When I was young I lived in the Bay Area(San Fran) and would go to China Town for thing not normally available to a child.

Older kids would go to Mexico and come back with small sticks of dynamite. POW!
