I haven't been to Disneyland since I was little so I'm trying to fit everything in a short period of time.

I checked the schedule for when were gonna be there (Nov 23-24) and Fireworks are at 8:40 and Fantasmic at 9 and 10:15. I was thinking leaving the kids in the room and try to see both. How early do I need to get back to the park for the fireworks and should I try to fight over to see the 9pm show or should I wait till 10:15? If I wait until 10:15, go ride some rides and then show up at what time?

Welcome to the Boards

If you want to see "Believe...In Holiday Magic" fireworks in front of SB castle, I would show up one hour until the fireworks start at 8:40. If you do that you will be in the streets in front of SB castle. That is one of the best spots to see the fireworks. You can see the fireworks around the whole park in different locations, but the best spot is in front of SB castle.

If you try to fight your way over to the ROA after the fireworks show from in front of SB castle, you will not get a good spot to see F!. I would just wait until the 10:15 F! show so you can get a spot in the ground sitting area right next to the ROA. A lot of the DISers on the boards would say the same thing and do the fireworks from the Hub first and head on over to the ROA for the 2nd show of F!. If you care about the location of watching F!, I would wait to go to the ROA after the fireworks and don't go on any rides until they let the guests in the viewing area for the 2nd show.

You also could get a spot for the 9pm show of F! and watch the fireworks from the ROA. You can get a sitting area spot 1-2 hours until the 9pm F! show starts.

I agree with what mvf said, but I just wanted to emphasis one really important piece.

The fireworks at DL used to be at 9:25pm. One could watch the fireworks and then make every effort to plow their way over (through massive crowds) to the ROA for the 10:30pm show. Likewise, some people would try to watch the first Fantasmic! show (9:00pm) and try to make it from the ROA to Main Street in the 2 min. in between F! and the fireworks, which is a futile effort, btw.

However, with the fireworks now at and Fireworks are at 8:40pm, if one watches the fireworks from Main Street, there is NO time to get to the ROA in time for Fantasmic! So, really the only option is to either watch the fireworks from ROA, which I would not recommend for the FULL effect, or to watch the second Fantasmic! show.

Dreams is right that DL has changed the fireworks times to 8:40 instead of the usual 9:30 time during the full hours at DL. It does make sense to see the fireworks first at 9:30 and make your way over to the ROA for the 2nd show of F! at 10:30. Now with the fireworks starts @ 8:40 and it takes around 10 min to complete the fireworks, there is no time to head on over to the ROA and see the first show of F!. The best way to see both shows is to be in the viewing area for F! and watch the fireworks from there or see the fireworks from the Hub and wait for the 2nd show of F!.

Is it always/usually possible to get a nice spot for the second F! show on ROA?

Where on ROA should one head for after the fireworks?

You can get a good spot for the 2nd show of F! right by the ROA if you are waiting in NOS or in Critter Country. Since the DL CMs won't let any guests coming from MS into Frontierland until all the guests from the 1st show left the area. If you come from MS, you have to fight through with the other guests who are trying to get to the ROA. You can get in the sitting viewing area from the Hub.

With the current schedule at DL having the fireworks at 8:40 and F! at 9 & 10:15, I would not even attempt to go over to F! after the fireworks. You can try it, but you would not get a good view of the first show. It make sense to wait around NOS or Critter Country until the first F! finishes and after the first groups leaves the viewing area, I would go in the sitting area for the 2nd show. Other people like the bridge over the POTC entrance is a nice spot to see F! and behind the F! dessert seating area is a decent spot to see the show.
