Fireworks, DVC, and a whole lot less of me!!!-our 6th trip to disney!-update 7/6 pg14

Great update, Erika! I loved seeing your pics of the Poly & WL! But so sorry about the fall & losing your belongings on the ride! As I read about your fall & the reaction of your DH, I was sitting here shaking my head -- because it totally reminds me of something MY DH would do as well  Must just be a man thing! :sad2:

I was so upset when I heard that you lost your belongings on Buzz -- AND I made a note of it for next trip! I ALWAYS lay my park bag & sometimes my camera on the seat next to me if I'm riding solo! So I will definitely make sure not to do that anymore, thanks for the heads-up!!! Usually I wrap the straps from my bag & camera on my wrist so if they fall down, I will feel it falling & grab it quickly...but I think I'll just stop putting them on the seat all together now! That is soooo great that the CM was able to stop the ride & find your belongings!!! I was relieved to read that part!!!

Somehow we skipped ALL of Tomorrowland last year :confused3 The crowds were just too much by the time we got to that portion of the park. I really want to ride on Stitch, but we aren't attempting that one with Luke! :lmao: Luke STILL hasn't been on TTA after his first 2 trips, so next trip its a must for me! I remember riding on it a million times my Senior Trip! TTA is one of my favorite memories of that entire trip because it was just so relaxing!!! The CM let us ride it 3 times in a row because they weren't busy at all that day! :goodvibes

I :lovestruc your pictures of the Polynesian resort!!!! It is my dream resort!!! Next year, I'm planning a big trip for my 30th birthday & I am really trying to find a way to stay there if only for 1-2 nights! I know we're staying at the Beach Club this trip & so many people want to stay there -- but for me, the Beach Club & Poly are tied for first place!!! I love them both in different ways!

I was actually doing research last night for our September trip & had a question about the Poly. After reading your update, you are the perfect person to ask!!! ;) We have an ADR at Kona Cafe right before MNSSHP at MK. My first question is -- how far do you have to walk to get to the monorail station at the Poly from the main building? And how long does it take to get to MK? I'm assuming its around 5 minutes since its right there on the monorail loop. I was using Google Earth to find alot of information last night & it is so neat to "see" Disney & the beautiful palm trees & resorts/parks when its so rainy/cold here!

I just signed up for Tour Guide Mike the other night! I am already a member of Touring Plans and love using the info on there, so I can't wait to see what both of the sites have to say!!! I just plan out park days & then we each decide on 1 thing per day that we "have" to do & a few things that we'd like to do if we have the time.

I know I am in the minority, but I love riding the Tea Cups! I always make sure that we ride it prior to eating because I don't want to get sick & I prefer to only spin a little bit! :lmao: Your pictures were sooo funny -- there is Jeremy laughing & loving it and then you look so bored! :lmao:

What a wonderful picture of your husband & Jeremy on Dumbo!!!! You should definitely frame that one! Kids grow up soooo fast!

I am soooo sad to see ToonTown leaving as well!!! I really hope that they move the houses somewhere else on property so I can at least visit them. Maybe they could find a way to incorporate them (or parts of them) into the new Art of Animation resort? Michelle suggested that I visit Disneyland to see their ToonTown because its so much better than the one at WDW -- and I definitely plan on doing that someday!!!!!!! :thumbsup2

It is really bittersweet! I love looking at the construction walls & updates to see pictures & progress of the new rides & restaurants! I think it will be really neat. My favorite 3 Disney movies when I was growing up were Snow White, Beauty & the Beast, and the Little Mermaid! So, since all 3 of those are being incorporated into the new expansion, I'm sure I will love it. But I'm still so sad to see ToonTown go. It was one of my favorite parts of MK! I can't imagine walking through MK and not visiting the houses. At least you were able to get some really great "last pictures" of the houses & barnstormer!!! :thumbsup2

I hope you & your family had a Happy Easter!!! I can't wait to hear more about both of your trips!!! I love your combined PTR and TR!!! :goodvibes

The Poly is just beautiful. I too want to stay here sometime. I am thinking about adding a night to our Thanksgiving trip would love it if an AP discount came out for that day.

You should have no problem getting from the Poly to MK. It doesn't take very long at all. There is also a boat that goes there as well. It may stop at the GF (can't remember that:confused3). There is a monorail station at the Great Ceremonial House where Kona is at so it is just a quick walk up to it.

I really want to go to Disneyland soon. I was there as a senior in high school but sure did not appreciate it like I would today. Our plans are to do a cruise next year, but not sure when. I would have liked spring break but the prices are very high for that time or we might do Thanksgiving week. If we decide against it, we are going to Disneyland. I feel like I am on a time clock. I want Jeremy to enjoy all those things while he is still little (is 9 little anymore??--children grow up way too fast now in my opinion:confused3).

Even though I am going to miss Toon town, it is exciting that we are getting some new things in Fantasyland. Have you seen the picture of the top of the Beast's castle? I can hardly wait! :)

Hope you had a great Easter as well!

Have you posted ADRs or park days on this PTR yet? I want to see if we overlap at all. If so, I'll find it. I just didn't want to search if it wasn't on here!

Page 2, about midway down is my ADR's. I really don't have any park days mapped out. DH asked me to PLEASE not do a schedule this year as he wants to go with the flow as he puts it. :confused3 So, I haven't, however I have some things in mind.

I know that we will be at DHS the afternoon of June 26th and that evening.

There is one day we have breakfast at AK before the park opens and we will be there that day. June 30th we switch to the Contemporary and I figure we will hang out at MK that day until the room is ready.

July 4th is going to be at Epcot.

I have a feeling that once we "go with the flow" and he picks the wrong park, he will want to go back to my plan as he hates crowds and masses of people. :rolleyes1 Let me know if we overlap. I am always up for a Dismeet. :)

Great update. So sorry you fell. I have been reading about a lot of people falling lately. I guess we have to watch those wet areas!!

I love the pic with Jeremy & Mickey. Very cute!!

I usually have my mini hipster across my body so I wont lose anything on any rides. Glad you got your things back. Sounds like it does happen a lot.

Do you know we have never ridden Dumbo before????!!! I guess my boys have never been interested but we just have never done it. I may have to fix that!

It must be wonderful to see Wishes from your room. I would like to stay at WL some day.

Hope you had a great Mother's Day Erika!!

It was very nice! Jeremy and I visited my mom in Kentucky and I relaxed the rest of the day.

WL is just beautiful. We loved our room this time. It was a standard room but the view was priceless at night!

You have to ride Dumbo! It is sooo much fun and to me, is truly what Disney is about. I can still remember riding it when I was a child with my Mom.

Boy, where has the time gone lately! I can hardly believe we are down to 4 weeks of school left and MOST IMPORTANTLY, 46 days until we are at Disney!!!:banana::banana:

I had hoped to get another update from our summer trip up but I am running behind as usual. I need to get the rest of my pictures loaded so hopefully tomorrow! I also want to share what my son did for me for Mother's Day so I need to upload those pictures as well. :)

I wanted to give you a little update on Jeremy. You probably remember that back in April he had a little accident on his scooter and got 8 stitches. Well, the doctor took the outer 6 stitches out on Good Friday and told us everything was healing good and he should be fine. A few days later, I started seeing what I thought was the inner stitches where it was healing. Well, needless to say, what looked good now looks horrible. This weekend, I could actually see the entire inner stitches which were supposed to be gone by now and it was quite obvious that it was not getting better but worse. Tom and I took him back to the pediatrician yesterday. He was flabbergasted to say the least and thinks something is wrong inside the wound. The wound was stitched at our local hospital and not by the pediatrician so he has no idea what was done inside. He referred us to a surgeon who wants to see Jeremy today. So, we are heading to the surgeon this afternoon.

Please keep Jeremy in your prayers. He is scared too death about what they are going to do. Honestly, I am too. The pediatrician started telling us yesterday what he thought would happen and then stopped when he seen how upset it was making Jeremy. I have a sinking feeling that they will open the wound back up and it was mentioned that there could possibly be some skin grafting. I will post once we know something more definite.

Oh goodness, poor Jeremy! Wow, he's going to need something more than a horseback ride for this!

I'll keep him in my thoughts today, let us know what the doctor says

Hope the doctor's visit went well. Keep us posted.

Yay for 46 days! :dance3: 52 for us, I think.

Oh dear. That stinks about the stitches. I hope the cure is nothing too major.

Great for 46 days!!

Good news and Bad news for Jeremy! We went to the surgeon yesterday. First, it was very funny when the nurse called us back as she thought Tom was the patient. She kept asking him things and finally he said, you know it is my son who fell on the scooter, don't you and not me! :lmao: Then, she looks at Jeremy and says they may have to amputate his leg. :confused3 Oh bother, the flood gate opened and he was crying. She felt so bad but really, couldn't she have thought before she spoke. It was very obvious they don't get many young patients there for surgery.

The doctor, however, was super nice and explained that right now, there is nothing they can do. The location of the cut is right over the bone and there is not enough tissue left to do what needs to be done. They could try to correct it but 1. it is a good possibility that he would not have enough room to come together and 2. it would have a greater chance of getting a staph infection. :scared1:

Now on to the bad news......it will heal but will take a while and we have to be very careful with it. It must be covered at all times with an antibiotic ointment he prescribed on it at all times. It can be uncovered as long as he is indoors and only at home. Jeremy cannot take a bath (must only be showers) and swimming can only be done in our home pool. Not sure how long that restriction will be but with 45 days until Disney, I am slightly worried about that one and our trip plans. And the really bad news, it is going to heal but will be a very bad scar that he will want to fix. But, that cannot be done until Jeremy is 2 - 3 years older and more tissue has grown in the area so we are looking at surgery down the road. :sad2:

I will say that in one night with the anitbiotics, it looks much better this morning so I am very hopeful. We go back in 3 weeks and I am hoping it will be healing nicely by then.

Summer 2010-Day 5, July 6, 2011
After some much needed rest, we got up early and hit rope drop at Epcot. Tom made his usual dash to Soarin for fastpasses. Jeremy and I hit the NEMO ride and we all met up for some Turtle Talk with Crush.

Afterwards, we headed to what has become a family favorite: Innoventions. Jeremy just loves this area. We tried out the new Piggy Bank game. It was lots of fun and Jeremy just loved it.

Jeremy with his bank.

If you have never done this, you choose something you want to do. I think the options may have been take a trip, redo your room, etc. As you go through you make money choices. The piggy is yours throughout the entire game so you load him on different stations.

The boys found some video games to play in Innoventions.

Then on to another family favorite---We call it the Trash Game!!! Not sure of what it's actual name is.

IMG_3882.jpg

You get your own trash truck and take it to each station and do something. I know the first station is where you recycle, then you build a landfill, etc. It is lots of fun.

I have no idea what he is doing here!

We left Innoventions and headed to Club Cool for a Dis Meet.

Up Next: A Dis Meet and Will I drink the Beverly?

Poor Jeremy! Definitely thinking of you all! Make sure you let us know what the surgeon says!

Thanks for all the good thoughts and well wishes! Jeremy is much happier today but I can't say that my worrying has stopped. I just hope things heal nicely and no infection sets in. Trying my best to keep it covered and for Jeremy to leave it on. He is dying to show it to his friends at school. Boys will be boys.........:confused3.

Glad to hear that Jeremy is feeling better - but so sorry that it will be so long in healing. With him wanting to show it off to friends - maybe he'll opt out of the surgery to fix the scar ;)

We have been to Disney 5 times in the past 5 years - and we have still not done Innovations. I think we need to be sure to do that this year - especially so that we can beat the heat!

I'll keep my fingers crossed that Jeremy is healed enough that he can swim on vacation - I can't imagine not being able to get in the pool to cool off in the hot Florida summertime! Did the doctor say if the surgery would be elective to lessen the appearance of the scar or did he think it would be necessary because the size of the scar would cause Jeremy problems? Maybe he won't need surgery at all

We didn't discover all the fun things to do in Innoventions until our December 2009 trip, and we just scratched the surface, I'm looking forward to spending more time in the there in the future! Jared loved the piggy bank and the waste management games too :thumbsup2

Glad to hear Jeremy's leg is already starting to look better. Fingers crossed that it doesn't impact pool time on your trip! :goodvibes

What a thing for the nurse to say to him!!:confused3

Glad to hear it is looking better. Keep us posted!!

Innoventions is so much fun! Your children would have a blast in there. Plus, it is a nice way to cool down in the heat.

I think the surgeon thinks it will be a huge scar and will want to fix it. I am not really for sure. I guess when we went this week I assumed we were looking at some type of surgery and he caught me off guard when he said he couldn't fix it. I have been making my list of things to ask the next time we go. :sad2: I am soooo compulsive like that. I have to write down everything so I make sure I don't forget it.

Tom and I are worried about the swimming as well as Jeremy spends most of summer vacation at Disney in the pool or would prefer the water parks. I am still planning as though we will go, BUT, I think Tom and I have agreed that if he can't go swimming, we may postpone it. :scared1: I just keep saying a little prayer every night that it will heal quickly.

Glad to hear Jeremy's leg is already starting to look better. Fingers crossed that it doesn't impact pool time on your trip! :goodvibes

Thanks, I have my fingers crossed as well! We really want to go and I know a vacation in Florida with no pool would be miserable for Jeremy. We might postpone it if he can't swim. Really hoping beyond hope that doesn't happen!

What a thing for the nurse to say to him!!:confused3

Glad to hear it is looking better. Keep us posted!!

She felt so bad after she said it. You could tell they did not have many younger patients.

I will definitely let you know how it does.

I have no idea what he is doing here!

Ooooo! oooooo! I know I know!! He was testing out the seat for "Sum of All Thrills"!!! What do I win?!

We will keep Jeremy in our prayers and hope he heals up super fast! We wouldn't want him to miss out on Disney swimming in June!!

Glad Jeremy won't need immediate surgery. I hope with time itheals OK and maybe surgery won't be needed.
