Can you do both fireworks and fantasmic on the same night, or is that too much??? Fireworks at 925pm and F at 1030 that night. If so, where would be the best place to watch fireworks and still make it to F??? TIA!

Yes, I have done it and it is not very hard to see the late F! showing. We saw the RDCT fireworks in the hub from over in front of the Frontierland entrance (on the left side of the hub as you face the castle). After RDCT ends you just head thru Fronterierland. One thing of which to be aware is that DL usually sets up a traffic management system in the hub before RDCT starts. This system in my experience directs everyone counter-clockwise around the hub in a one-way traffic lane. After RDCT they try to keep this going for awhile and hence if you are too far away from the Frontierland entrance you might have to go against one-way traffic to get there which might be difficult. My advice is before RDCT starts ask one of the CMs who directs traffic in the hub where you should be in order to make it to Frontierland and F! and go with that.

I use the same strategy as Hydro, however, I prefer to stand closer to the Carnation Gardens entrance and use the Rancho de Zocalo tunnel to get into Frontierland. It puts me at the front of the crowds to get into NoS for the second showing.

You forgot how to explain how to catch DEP before the RDCT starts. ;)

Please do tell for the other poster! We are doing DEP a different night.....unless of course there's a better way!! I love the DIS!! Thank you all!!

Well, since you asked . . . You may want to grab some popcorn:: and a cup o' :surfweb: cause this won't be short.

What we're talking about here is the ultimate Disneyland entertainment trifecta. It's not for the weak at heart, and definately takes some strategic planning, agility in maneuvering through crowds and most importantly the will to make it happen!

To start with, you want to catch the DEP in DCA down by the pier area. You can stake out a spot very easily down there 20 minutes prior to show time. You want to be on the same side as the Mulholland Madness and Golden Dreams Theater. I like to sit somewhere inbetween the two. Once I see the last float coming toward me (Salute to America), I stand up and walk with purpose (long legs and aforementioned agility help here) toward Golden Dreams, hang a left past the restrooms and then turn right to take the GRR back trail towards Condor Flats area. If you have moved swiftly enough, you will beat the front of the DEP to Sunshine Plaza and be able to head out of the park while the rest of the crowds are still watching the parade.

Work your way across the esplanade and find the shortest line into DL with the swiftest looking CM ticket scanner. Once inside you will have a decision to make. How are the crowds? Is Main Street completely jam packed? You probably have about 5 minutes (if that) to find yourself a spot to sit for fireworks.

OPTION 1: If Main Street is ultra crowded, you can choose to watch RDCT from the Train Station. I like to just stand up on the first platform. If you choose to watch the fireworks from this location, you need to understand that you will miss out on some of the special effects that can be seen from the Hub area, but to me, it's a fair exchange for accomplishing the great trifecta! Once RDCT is over, you can jump on the train to NoS (1st stop). You should be able to pretty easily find a good spot for the second show.

OPTION 2: If you find that you have a few more than 5 minutes prior to RDCT and Main Street looks manageable, you can try to make your way toward the Hub, with the goal of getting yourself somewhere close to the left side of the Hub (facing the castle) near the Frontierland entrance or near Carnation Plaza entrance (as mentioned in previous posts). Crowd control will have you moving around the hub in a counter-clockwise motion, so if crowds are bad, you may be watching the fireworks while you are walking -- not fun. However, you may at this point choose to just plant yourselves somewhere on Main Street to watch the rest of the show. You will have at least 40 minutes to get yourselves to NoS to watch F! after, so this can be done.

Many people think this plan is risky and unadviseable, especially for those who have not experienced these shows before, and I agree. If you have the option to do these shows on different nights, then by all means, you should. I prefer to think of "the ultimate entertainment trifecta" as a challenge and fun to do if you have seen all three shows before.

Have fun and please post (and gloat) if you are able to accomplish the trifecta! :thumbsup2

:lmao: DM you totally crack me up sometimes with how you explain things. You certainly haven't let me down yet with your suggestions.
Here's what I'm thinking for our trip. We have two nights to do DEP, fireworks, and fantasmic. Of course fantasmic is only on friday night so we have no choice to but to see it that one night.
I was figuring we should do fireworks on Sunday night.....I would never forgive myself if we waited until Friday night our last night only to have them cancelled. Then on Friday night do DEP and Fantasmic since we'll have more time between them to not have to attemt the trifecta.
What do you think of that...Hydro feel free to jump in as well.

LOL, but I baited Danger on this one so I had it coming. ;) I agree with her points at the end. it is sort of like trying to ride all the DL rides in one day. Doable? Yes, sometimes. Enjoyable? Probably not - unless you do it for the challenge.

In any case, if it is your first time to see RDCT I wholeheartedly agree that you should see them on the first possible night - Sunday for you. That would mean DEP the following Friday. Fantasmic could be done either night but will need to be the late 10:30 showing. Even for me who has seen RDCT several times, I prefer to get there early and have a solid chance to get a good viewing spot. As Danger said, if you come that late (after DEP) your spot might not be that good.

Have a great trip. :)

Okay, the trifecta just isn't possible with a crowd of 12. None of whom walk as fast as my hubbie who grew up in Chinatown and knows how to dodge little old ladies and confused tourists. Annnnd, we only have Friday night. So, what should I choose? What is the most bang for my buck? I'm thinking Fantasmic and the parade. But where for just those 2 shows? And is it possible to see the earlier F show? I'm traveling with 2 little kids (5 and 3).

Bradysmom...weren't you staying at HOJO's?? I think you were the one that was going to be there the same time we will be there. :)

I am going to feel really silly here...but what does RDTC stand for? I think it has to do with the fireworks but I've never seen that abbreviation before. Duh moment.

RDCT = "Remember Dreams Come True" - it's the name of the fireworks show. I accidentally transposed my letters in my long post, sorry. :cutie:

IMO RDCT is the best of the three while Fantasmic is not that far behind. It is not that DEP is not good, it is just that the other two are so awesome that DEP just comes in third by default.

It is possible to see the early Fantasmic (9PM) and with young children that is probably the way to go. But you need to get a spot early. I have not done the 9PM for many years but common advice is to get there 90 minutes early to get a decent spot. It is much easier to get a good spot for the late show (only 30-40 minutes early is required) and that is why so many people choose the late show if they can.

We're headed to DLR April 20-24, with our 4.5-year old twins. They are set on seeing the Electrical Parade, and Sunday, April 20 is the only night that RDCT, DEP, and Fantasmic are being shown.

DEP 8:45
Fantasmic 9:00
RDCT 9:25
Fantasmic 10:30

We probably won't try to do Fantasmic, since it is fairly late, but is possible to catch part of RDCT after DEP?

I'm wondering if the crowds would be too much, during this time, to get back into DL to catch part of RDCT. Is there much to see of RDCT from DCA or between the parks?

Thanks.

Follow the first 2 parts of my Trifecta tips here http://disboards.com/showpost.php?p=22784289&postcount=8 and you should be able to make it happen. :thumbsup2

Oh, and I'd recommend you either have the twins in a stroller or plan on carrying them because you need to be able to move FAST. . . .:teleport:
