I know they make an earplug for flying, but they look like they are for older babies...2 yrs +

What if anything do you use for infants?
flying?
fireworks?

I also have a 9 yr old nephew who has never stayed for the fireworks because he is so sensitive to the noise? Has anyone else had this problem?:confused3 :confused3 :confused3

Thank you in advance!!

hi there -- i made this post awhile back as well -- i was more concerned with my 4 year old. he seems to have extremely sensitive ears -- someone suggested these ear muff things that people that work at airports use -- they do come in child size and can be placed on infants as well -- here is a link --

good luck!

I got earplugs at my local drugstore for DS ( 1) when we went back in feb. They were basically like plastercine, they molding to his ear but didnt actually go in his ear canal. They were great. He was fine though the fireworks, The stunt show etc, all the places with really loud sounds.

My 5 yo is scared of the noise of fireworks, so we bought her a set of hunting headphones(from Walmart) a few years ago. They work great. We make sure to take them to July 4 celebrations and WDW every time we go. She looks cute wearing them and always gets a lot of comments.

We took my son to DL fireworks twice at 3 months old, and at 4th of July at 11 months old, and neither time bothered him. At 3 months he slept right through them, and at 11 months he was fascinated by them. But I guess it would be wise to have something just in case :)

Have fun!

You can get ear protectors in a small size that should work for kids from your local gun shop. Although I know many people have issues supporting such shops this is where we get ours.

My 8yo does not appreciate loud noises. I bought ear protectors for her from Amazon. They are great. I believe they are the same brand that Gwenyth Paltrow's daughter wears when she goes to her father's concerts!

If you click on my August 06 trip report link you can see a photo of my DD wearing them.

Solgent,

Thank you for the informationa and I really enjoyed your trip report.:thumbsup2 I think its time I go to some drug stores and do some shopping.

Will any ear plug help with flying?

Thanks!

Same here. DS slept through all fireworks at 3 months and 5 months. Earlier this month we were at some local fireworks and he slept the entire time too (he's 13 months now)

I wouldn't bother.

Thanks! Several people seem to think nothing is needed for the fireworks. I will use a sling so I can hold him close.:cloud9:

What about flying? will any earplug help with that?:confused3

We too had no problems with our 7 month old. She slept through most of the fireworks and awoke at the end. She looked up in awe and smiled.:cloud9:

try ear phones they work pretty well you should be able to find some at a sporting good store i believe

It depends on what you are trying to accomplish. If it is drowning out engine noise then any old ear plug will do. If it is pressure changes, no a regular ear plug will not help at all. EarPlanes are pressure equalization plugs. You should put them in before take off. Once you reach a cruising altitude you can take them out and put them back in for consent but be sure you leave them in untill the door to the plane is open because there is another pressure change then. They just keep the air pressure in your middle ear constant so you don't have any discomfort. They are actually not very good as sound protection plugs.
