Inspired by a recent thread by SHEP...

Do you have a FIREWALL?

What Kind do you have/recommend?

Thanks! :)

SAFE & HAPPY HOLIDAYS! :)

DH does all of our networking stuff, but I'm pretty sure that our firewall is in our network hub.

We only bother with it, when we've had high-speed internet. We're currently using a dual Firewall/ Router for our LAN. We also have the Norton Utilities Firewall installed on all of our PC's.

My firewall was broken. But I think they are important. I need to get new one.

Zone Alarm.......we had trouble with hackers this Fall so went to that.

We have a cablemodem. I use a router for a hardware firewall and the free version of zone alarm for a software firewall. The Router keeps hackers from breaking in and ZoneAlarm lets me know if something on my system is trying to contact the outside world without permission. I supplement these with a Norton Anti Virus subscription to detect anything that might somehow get through.

By the way, hackers attack dialup systems too, and they are doing so more frequently these days. It's worth at least putting free firewall software like zone alarm on your system if you have a dial up connection to provide yourself with some level of protection. With the new superworms that are starting to appear, no PC should be on the web without some form of firewall.

I don't worry with our dialup ;) ...........

Oh, but you should worry.

We still have an old fashioned dial up and I wouldn't have a computer without a Firewall.

It's also interesting to see where the hacking attempts are coming from using Symantec's IP tracer.
