Hope this is ok to post here I couldn't work out where else!

We haven't been to WDW for 12 years .... when we were there we would often just bump into characters, just out in the parks with casual lines forming to take photos etc. Does that still happening? My two children are really looking forward to meting the characters and I'm going to have to make serious plans if the only way is at premium character meals or great long lines for official meet and greets.

Thanks
Kit

Spontaneous M&Gs are very rare these days. There are some (minor) characters that wander Fantasyland in the morning, and you can meet some characters seemingly spontaneously (but not really, because it's scheduled) at an unadvertised M&G in the Streets of America at DHS most afternoons (this is known by the Disney fanbase as Characterpalooza). Other than that, you're really not going to see anything too spontaneous. I'd check out kennythepirate.com for the most up-to-date information on when and where to find characters. Other than the extremely popular characters, most have manageable lines for a good part of the day (20-30 minutes or less). Kenny the Pirate also has an app called Character Finder that is updated all the time and is a great resource for finding characters in the parks. I think it's $1.99 for the app, but it's well worth it.

Character meals are the way to go!!! No lines, just wait for the characters to stop by your table for autographs and pictures.

This is why we are doing 3 character meals this coming trip. We will have 3 boys, youngest 18 months, so standling in line all day would not work. Kenny the Pirate as pp stated is a great resource. Are there certain characters you are looking for?

We get tired of character meals and really like meeting characters "out in the wild" :lmao:

I think Kenny's site is great for this... there are still lots of characters out, jut not in the same way as before, while its rare to find a roaming character, they are scheduled to appear daily in certain locations (and it isn't advertised). This is why having "in the know" Disney people like the DIS is helpful :thumbsup2
