This question came up on the DIS Baby Thread.

I picked Yes and No. We were suprised with the first 2, but I just had to know if #3 would be my princess, and she is! :)princess:

I couldn't wait to find out.:) I ended up having to have 4 ultra sounds with each pregnancy and the last 3, you could definately tell my dd was a girl and my ds was a boy (or as the tech said, my ds had a turtle:p ).

We didn't know either time. 1st time we wanted a surprise and 2nd time was a planned c-section, we felt like we knew exactly when baby was coming, so we wanted at least the gender to be a surprise. She came 2 weeks early and all was a surprise.

I planned on waiting for the first one, but when the tech asked me if I wanted to know, I said yes. The second one, definitely yes.

With our first baby, we wanted to be surprised! And I'm glad we chose not to find out!

With our second, since they were so close together, I wanted to know and since I had an amnio, I found out.

If I were to have a third (and I think it's safe to say at this point it's not happening) I would find out only because we don't have anything for a baby, everything was donated a very long time ago. My boys are now 13 and 14 so I'd need to go out and buy lots of baby things and I would want blue if it were a boy and pink/purple feminine colors for a girl.

We wanted to know. However, our little lady kept her legs crossed each time we looked. (I had TONS of US's.)

I just knew she was a girl, anyhow.

My Brother and SIL are due in April, and they are not finding out. It is driving me INSANE not knowing! I will 100% NO DOUBT IN MY MIND find out as soon as the doctors can tell!

I am very much a planner, and I am the type of person that needs to be mentally prepared for such an occasion so that I can not be stressing out as much when the time comes. Plus, having clothing, the room set up, toys, etc. to match the gender is something that I look forward to. I'd like to have that little bit of joy while I'm pregnant.:p But really I would want to know because I hate not knowing what someone else does! LOL

We didn't want to know, though for some reason I was convinced that I was having a boy right up until she came out. When the doctor said it's a girl, I said are you sure? LOL Wouldn't trade my little girl for all the boys in the world.

I found out both times. They said at first I was having a girl with both and then changed it to a boy. The first was a boy and we will find out in about 3 months if the second is corrrect.:)

I wanted it to be a suprise, but when dd was late (2 weeks) and I needed to be induced, the last US before I was induced (2 days before) I couldn't wait any longer! So I had them tell us the gender.

The "element of surprise" is the biggest joy of maternity!! I didn't want to know with either of mine. With my dd (17) I wasn't sure what I was having, but my ds (12) I was pretty positive he was a he!!

There is sooo much "neutral" decorating/clothing that you don't "need" to know to be prepared!

My suggestion ~ WAIT to find out..........there is nothing better!!

DS#1- I had to know, but DH didnt want to know. I had my first ultrasound and DS was in a bad position, but the ultrsound tech said she could take a guess. So I made DH leave the room and she guessed a boy. I went back a month later and they wanted to redo the ultrasound because of the bad position he had been in. So again I had DH leave the room at the end and the tech confirmed it was a boy. I had to lie to everyone and say we couldnt find out because I didnt think it was right for everyone else to know before DH. But I kept it a secret up until the birth.

DS#2 - We both wanted to know and this time we told everyone. I was convinced he was a girl, but the tech came right out and said "Oh this ones definitely a boy!". Even though we found out with the ultrasound, it was still a surprise then! I feel theres too much going on in the delivery room to have another surprise added in. Did I mention I hate surprises? ;)

Im the type of person who needs to be prepared mentally for stuff, so I wouldnt have had it any other way.

We find out, mainly because of DH. I don't mind finding out, but I'd also be happy with waiting. Actually, I'd prefer to not have any ultrasounds at all, but I have to deliver at a hospital (rather than at home) because of medical problems, and my OB's office requires one at around 18-20 weeks. As long as I have to have the ultrasound, I figure I might as well get something out of it.

Yes, couldn't wait to find out. We were very excited about the pregnancies and wanted to get to know our "boys" right away!

We found out with both kids because we wanted to know. We were every bit as thrilled to find out ahead of time as we would have been to wait until delivery.

I say do what works best for you!

We couldn't find to find out but we didn't tell anyone we knew that our baby was a girl b/c they all wanted to be surprised.

We don't want to find out with the first one. I would go nuts buying gender-related clothing, and unfortunately, I know enough people who's tech was wrong...

I just had to find out! But I'm also an annoying obsessive-compulsive planner--I think that's the reason I had to know.

With oldest, I had an untrsound and the tech thought *maybe* a boy but they werent sure. He was!

With the next 3: we didnt know. My second I had one ultrsaound and she had her legs crossed (was REALLY hoping for a girl!), the third, I didnt have an ultrasound (couldnt make up my mind but felt she was a girl), with the 4th I had a several ultrasounds but he had his legs crossed (I was hoping he would be a boy), and the last (and final) one we found out. A little boy!

I figure its a surprise one way or another. You don't know..then surprise! you do know!

Since my Midwives do not do ultrasounds we did not find out. I didn't want to know anyway. :) If I ever HAD to have an ultrasound I would find out what the sex was. :)
