Finding Cheap Flights

I've seen flights for $49-$100 round trip but when I click on the links or go to try and book the actual prices come up $300+. I need 3 tickets from LAX to BWI for sept. I would love to find a great discount because $300 is out of my price range. Is there a better day to search or book flights during the week or how do I get these cheap flights and how far in advance do I have to book? Thanks.

Flight prices are outrageous right now. You will very likely need to up your budget; RT prices coast to coast are about $400 now, although you may get lucky and pay around $350.

I have no idea where you saw RT prices LAX-BWI for $100 or under; they don't exist.

I would think 300 round trip would be a great deal. 49 flights are normally just short ones down the east coast. Good luck! Don't wait too long or prices will just go up. Try 6 weeks out but not much closer!

I have found the best prices looking at each airline by it's self then checking daily. Of course the cheaper lines like air tran and southwest and spirit, jet blue all will beat united etc for the most part.

Some times I check several times a day! You never know when you can catch a deal.

I don't fly coast to coast but you might try checking a near by airport instead, it cost me $100 more to fly into Miami then it does Ft Lauderdale less then 30 miles away!!

thank you all. I am going to start checking the airlines themselves then. Really appreciate that? I didn't realize it was just up and down the coast because my friend just flew from LAX to Indiana for $79 but if $300 is the best deal then I'll go for that one. Are flights cheaper on Mondays vs fri or does it just depend? And which might be the best airline to fly?
